High-performance computer component manufacturer OCZ expanded on their gaming peripheral Alchemy line with the addition of their new Illuminati gaming keyboard, complete with all the trimmings of modern gaming keyboards - 14 multimedia / hotkeys, red / blue backlight, rubber coated keys for extra durability and tactile feedback, and a lifespan of 5 million cycles (which I will assume is… long).

From one that’s been quite intimate with his keyboard over the past years, I will say that this is quite a good looking keyboard, and the additions of high-end features like the backlight and the rubber-coated keys shows that OCZ is indeed paying attention. Pictures make it out to be a wireless keyboard, but OCZ hasn’t made this clear - gaming-exclusive peripherals are almost always wired to minimize any lag time between keystroke and on-screen action. Still, if it were wireless, the Illuminati would be a serious contender to my diNovo Edge

Still no word on release date or pricing from OCZ, but given the relatively basement $30 price tag of their previous Alchemy Elixir keyboard, it shouldn’t be anywhere near the diNovo’s $200 retail.
