Asus keeps laying on the innovations: another interesting product they demoed at the recent CeBIT was the Eee Keyboard PC, a full-blown home theater PC equipped with a 5″ 800×480 touchscreen where the numpad is typically found. The bevy of ports found in the back show how serious Asus is at making this a true HTPC: wireless HDMI, two USB 2.0, VGA, HDMI, and audio in/out. As for the specs: 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB RAM, 16/32GB SSD, with built-in wifi and bluetooth.
The keyboard is fully functional on its own as a PC without the need for an external screen, as the touchscreen can display the pre-installed Windows XP just fine (albeit a bit cramped); but users looking to truly utilize this innovative product will want to plug this into their HDTV, and possibly use the touchscreen as a remote control, as a touchpad, or perhaps with special software, even as a drawing pad.
The Eee Keyboard PC should be released sometime in May or June for $400 (wired version) and $600 (wireless version).
