An interesting concept from Japanese designer Hironao Tsuboi is given no drama, no fanfare, and absolutely no face as the product website simply lists it as “LED Watch”. The faceless watch displays its digits via LEDs embedded into the strap, but it is not clear whether that portion of the watch is able to flex, although this writer reckons it probably can’t.

Couple things worth considering - the extravagant faces on certain watches are the whole point of a watch, not only because it gives the watch a “watch look”, but in certain cases also to give balance to what could be an extravagant strap. Without the face itself but still retaining the gaudy old-school looking chain strap gives the watch the look of a woman’s bracelet, one of those wide and unwieldy ones that are meant to make the arm and wrist look more slender. Perhaps this watch was designed for female use after all?

No word yet on price or release date, but something tells me that nobody will really care…
