Been holding off on buying a Blu-ray player because of the outrageous prices? When they were first released, the only “affordable” player was the PlayStation 3 at around $500, but prices on players have steadily been coming down the past few years, finally crossing $200 this past holiday season.

The Blu-ray Disc Association has long tried to keep manufacturing juggernaut China out of the picture, but has recently introduced the format there - the estimation is that by this holiday season, we will be seeing Chinese-built $99 players, doubtless to drive prices lower on name brands like Toshiba, Sony, and Pioneer.

One little wrinkle in this otherwise great news - have you seen the prices on the discs themselves?
