Amazon has dropped their price on the Kindle 2 eBook reader today. It’s been five months since Amazon introduced the Kindle 2 to the masses. Amazon’s eBook reader has been one of the most successful eBook readers on the market, it was sold out for the first few months.

This new pricing makes sense for Amazon. With new eBook readers popping up from various companies, the market is getting saturated and Amazon can longer charge the premium price on the device. I wonder if Amazon will be offering a $60 return on those customers who bought the device in the last week or so?

Amazon will definitely be selling more of these eBook readers now with the price cut. I bought mine when it first released and it was worth the price for me andnow for $300, it becomes a valuable gadget to have, that is if you read often. This also comes a few days after rumors were swirling about Amazon lowering their eBook costs by placing ads within the eBooks.

Amazon is making some moves, will the competition make any changes (Hello Sony) or will they continue to keep their current price tag?
