I’m not one to get annoyed with many things but when it comes to Twitter, I get very annoyed with users who continue to make the same mistakes over and over, especially new users. I just wish sometimes people would Google some tips on how to make their Twitter experience better, instead of going in there blind, making mistakes that annoy the Twitter community and hurt their Twitter experience. To help solve that problem, here’s 5 common Twitter mistakes to avoid.
1. Tweeting everything
It’s great that you have an interesting life but unless you’re a celebrity (only if you’re Ashton Kutcher), no one wants to hear about your trip to the supermarket or to the bathroom. Unlimited texting on your phone doesn’t mean unlimited Twitter updates. Most followers will drop you if you continue to tweet about every minute of your life.
2. Following Too Many People
I’d love to keep up with as many people as possible but if I tried to do that, I would never get through my Twitter list. Following a thousand people doesn’t prove anything, it just means you’re an attention whore, who really doesn’t care about the Tweets from others.
3. Not Putting Up An Icon Picture
Like many social networking sites, users find comfort knowing the person they’re communicating with is a real person. Putting up a real picture of yourself ensures that and plus why wouldn’t you want people to look at your gorgeous face, right? (Unless of course you really are ugly, then go ahead and leave the picture box blank or put a pretty face of a celebrity we don’t know about).
4. Not Replying To Re-Tweet or Follow
Although the reply to follow has been automated by many, it helps to send a genuine reply or direct message to someone who starts to follow you. They’re more likely to follow your Tweets and interact with you on a regular basis.
5. Going Over 140 Characters
This is a trend that’s starting to happen more often, Twitter users writing a story using their Tweets. Keep it short and simple, that’s the whole point of the site. If you’re there to complain about your latest break up with your BF, then go to FMyLife and write to your heart’s content, but no need to write the entire story on Twitter.
I really hope some of these tips end up helping new and current Twitter users. I love following interesting people, who have interesting things to say but if you’re continuously babbling about the same thing or your relationship problems, then you’re better of leaving the site for a blog account elsewhere. If you have any other tips to add, feel free to throw it in the comment section, we’ll try to update it as soon as possible.

Totally agree with you Kashem. Bitching or complaining is damn boring and a downer, as is tweeting the entire events of your day or tweeting too often, it drowns everybody else out. I thought twitter was a moronic concept until I had something to promote, to be honest! Short and sweet is best and hopefully entertaining/educational/engaging or all of the above.
