People often wonder why many NY’ers seem grumpy, well one of the reasons maybe because the “City That Never Sleeps” still makes their Police Officers use typewriters. Typewriters folks, you know those things you look at in amazement when you see them at a garage sell and wonder how anyone ever used such a thing.

The City of New York is spending a million dollars on typewriters to replace the existing typewriters that the NYPD uses. The reason for this? Mainly because the typewriters the officers use for property and evidence vouchers are all broken down pieces of garbage from the 19th century. The NYPD could either upgrade their entire system and have it all computerized or just fix and replace the existing equipment, guess what they chose? Police officers are not too happy about the fact that they have to sit behind these ratty old machines, things most of the world doesn’t care for anymore.

So old-fashioned..

I don’t understand why the city is paying 1 million dollars for typewriters?! If they want a better city than they must have better equipment and they should upgrade their entire system. :)
