Last night when I least expected it, I received my Google Voice invite. I was excited and started to set it up. In the process I forgot to take some screen shots (Dohhh!). I realized by the 3rd Step, so that’s where it all starts. I just have to say, playing with it has been great. I hope you enjoy the screen shots and short review (longer one coming soon).
This was the original email in my inbox (click to enlarge):

Final Step/Congrats:
Google Voice Welcome Message:
Google Voice Voicemail (From my brother) and Text Message (I texted myself. Sad, I know) (click to enlarge) :
Google couldn’t transcribe what my brother said in the voicemail but they made a pretty good effort.
The mobile version of it works on the iPhone. You can text or even make calls. Check it out here:
Without an iPhone App, when you want to make a call, you are required to call yourself, (asked for password you set up earlier) then dial the persons number (yes, you have to memorize it). If you want to send a text, the only option right now is the mobile version or the full desktop version but you can reply to a text using your Google Voice number. Once you get someone to send you a text, you can just keep replying to them. On their phone it’ll come up as a text from your Google Voice number. On your phone it’ll have the name of the contact, although a number like the Google SMS version on G-Chat shows up at the header. Just ignore it, it’s not big deal as long as the name of the contact is in the body of the text.
For some reason, Google gave me $0.10 to use for an international call I guess. They have the rates on the bottom which start at $0.02 a minute.
So, if you’ve got your Google invite, then you’ll love the Google Voice service. I’m absolutely loving it. I have yet to check to see if AT&T is charging me for sending the text messages, the AT&T site was under maintenance when I tried to check.
Now I’m just hoping Apple and AT&T don’t ban an iPhone Google Voice App.
Will have a review of the entire service soon. Stay Tuned.

Awesome app and great support.

Google Voice does not accept my security code when it calls me for verification.
Ideas, thoughts, and prayers appreciated.

PLEASE SEND ME AN INVITE
Sorry Nathan. Only Google is handing out the invites. We would give out invites if we could but only Google has that ability now. Hope you can get an invite soon.
voice is the best thing to come out to this day. It is so good. You can send free sms all over the world, for more info on that look here:
Free International VOIP Calls WorldWide
I recently canceled my Att service on my iPhone 3g, so I got my google voice number and directed all calls to my Skype number. Now I basically have a $4/month home phone service (or wherever I get a Wifi Signal)not to mention the free text messaging! It’s great to beat the man(no homo).
I don’t understand .. is this merely a forwarding service or actual phone service? Do you give them your existing numbers and then tell it which ones you want it to ring? That would answer the question.

It’s a phone service with forwarding capability. Google assigns you a number. People can call you on that number and you can receive the call on any phone you like by forwarding it that number. If you have a smartphone with the Google Voice app, you don’t have to forward it, you’ll get it right on your phone. It has the ability to send free text messages, listen to voice mails through the google voice web page, block people from calling you. Those type of things. Hopefully this answered y our question.
Google Voice really going to hit the businesses of many VOIP providers but its good for people. Wonder when it will be available to everyone from all countries….
send me a google voice invite, please.

If anyone has one of the spare invites of the 3 recieved I would be forever gratefull for one. I am currently using vonage for work stuff and it charges me 25cents just to send me a e-mail transcripts of the voicmail and horrible charges for many other things so this would help me out greatly. My e-mail is ryan.thomas1989@gmail.com thank you so much in advance guys!
If anyone has a spare google voice invite then please send me one at rahulLives@gmail.com
