Apple continues to thrive during a slow economy. Yesterday at company’s Fiscal 2009 third quarter conference call, they announced that they had just recorded their best non-holiday quarter in revenue and earnings in their company history.
Although this recession is considered the worst since the Great Depression, Apple doesn’t seem to affect by it, as they continue to grow. In total, Apple gathered a quarterly profit of 1.23 billion dollars with international sales covering 44 percent of it. Although traditional iPod sales decreased, the overall revenue was high, being held up by the iPod Touch and the iPhone. The iPhone had an increased sales percentage of 626 percent. At this rate, with the iPhone spreading to more countries, next year’s quarter is said to be even bigger.
Along with all the hardware sales, users downloaded over 1.5 billion Apps and 8 million songs from the iTunes and Apple App Store. And last but not least, Mac sales jumped 4 percent with 2.6 million units sold since the last quarter and expected to go up higher with the new Snow Leopard release in September. All of this proves that Apple has yet to be affected by the recession even though other tech companies are facing financial problems during this tough economic crisis.
