Acer and Asus are the first two companies that come to mind when you think of the netbook craze but they seem to be the ones that are also putting a stop to it too. Temporarily, that is. It is rumored that Asus and Acer are putting a stop to their netbook production until the next version of Intel’s Atom processor, the N450 comes out which will most likely be included in the new netbooks in 2010.
It is kind of a smart move on their part because they are aware that if they release a new netbook now, then their last inventory won’t be sold and counted for this quarter. If they wait until 2010, then they can start over with new processors and hardware. It might also help to know what your competition is putting out there, especially since many other hardware manufacturers are also releasing netbooks.

This will be good for both companies. I’m happy they are thinking about what both them and their consumers will get out of it.
