Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Charny broke some pretty big news and said CES 2010 might have Apple at the tradeshow, “Apple plans to attend the show’s 2010 version, marking the first time in memory the Cupertino, Calif., consumer-electronics giant will be there.” But Charny report is being shot down by GDGT co-founder Ryan Block.

Block says that he was there at the dinner table, a private dinner held by Gary Shapiro, chief exec of the CEA (they put on CES), along with WSJ’s Charney and did not hear any definitive news that Apple is planning to attend CES in 2010. Block does mention that if Apple were to decide last minute to attend, CEA wouldn’t be able to accommodate them on a large scale.

Ben Charny’s article does not cite any other sources besides the dinner conversation, which Ryan Block brings up, saying that if Apple were attending the news, it would have already hit the news wires way before Charney would have had time to publish the story. Without the actual sources, the story has any credibility. We’re just trying to figure out why someone would write a story like this without any legitimate sources?

While I think it would be great for Apple to show up at the CES trade show, I don’t see why they would. Why would Apple want to share the stage with other companies when they could have done that on their own with Macworld? Hopefully Apple does show up at the tradeshow and show off they’re latest toys. Plus everyone knows it’s going to be a hit, especially if Mr. Jobs decides to make an appearance.
