Jay-Z recently released a song called D.O.A (Death Of Autotune). In case some of us don’t know what its all about, I’ll explain. The song pretty much bashes Auto Tune software which can correct or alter the pitch of some one’s voice. Lil-Wayne is known to use this software to make himself sound like a robot, masking the fact that he has no pitch nor can he sing.

Now, the company that makes the software, Antares Audio Technologies is reporting an increase in sales after Jay-Z’s song release. “The Jay-Z controversy is great,” said Marco Alpert, vice president of marketing at Antares. “We couldn’t buy P.R. like this.”

This is a hypocritical move on Jay-Z’s part because the song is produced by Kanye West, who uses the software so much, his forehead has Auto - tune stamped all over it. There really isn’t a reason for this song to be released cuz a lot of Hip-Hop artist use the software. on the other hand Jay-Z might be the only one that doesn’t, so we can somewhat understand why he may be upset, especially when the other guys are rolling in dough from auto-tune ingested albums.

Antares Audio Technologies doesn’t care if Jay-Z is bashing the technology, their sales have increased as a result of the publicity but wouldn’t speculate the increased percentage. Looks like more companies need to hire Jay-Z to do some product bashing.

Amazing post i must say that was worth reading

This is good for everybody. Artists have tapped the Auto-Tune out so they need to do something else. I’d rather listen to Charlie Wilson’s earlier hits or Zapp & Roger if I have to hear it all the time though some artists today used it well.
