The TomTom GPS for the iPhone may end up costing around $200. That’s according to U.K. retailer Handtec, which is currently taking pre-orders for the iPhone app and kit for $164, and suggests a U.S. retail price might around $200.
During Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, TomTom previewed their iPhone application and the reviews were great. TomTom said they would also create a car dock-connector for the iPhone. If the TomTom App, kit and dock-connector cost around $200, it’s not such a bad offer. If TomTom decides to charge a monthly fee on top of the $200 then it might become a problem. I can’t imagine many getting the kit and iPhone app for $200 with a subscription attached to it. Most will just opt for the stand alone TomTom device, which usually cost around $200.
