The years I spent in college, I never picked up a book just because I felt like reading. You couldn’t pay me to read because my professors already made me read so much. But for some reason, I became interested in reading again after the release of the Kindle 2.
Now, most of you are probably thinking, how’s that even possible? Here’s how, the Kindle made buying and reading a book so much easier. I didn’t have to pay $15 or more for a book, nor did I have to make trips to the library to pick up the book. Sometimes the latest books weren’t even available in the library. I bought the Kindle 2 and a few books and began reading once again. Since then, I’ve been reading at a steady pace, about a book every couple of weeks. That’s better than in the past, when I barely picked up a book.
Today on the train, it hit me, I wouldn’t read some of the books I’ve read if it weren’t for the Kindle. I’m not just saying that because I love gadgets. I’m saying it because the Kindle saves me time, energy and money. It’s easy to carry with me, saves space in my bag and is lighter than most books. Technology always has its negatives and positives, but the Kindle for me has been all positive.
