Sprint claims to be the first to have the wireless 4G network. Sprint is currently offering their 4G network only in Baltimore but are planning to branch out to other cities to expand the usage of their 4G network. Other cities planned for the network upgrade are Portland, Atlanta, and Las Vegas.
In order to do this, Sprint announced two 4G routers today, the Sprint Personal Hotspot PHS300S and the Cradlepoint MBR-1000 (also can be used, the 3G/4G USB modem U300 which provides 3G and quick 4G network wherever it is available). The previous version can only take a maximum of four connections while the Cradlepoint can handle up to 32 users all at once and can switch between 3G and 4G USB dongles. Service plans for the Cradlepoint and Sprint Personal Hotspot are anywhere from $40 to $80 a month. However, the Sprint Personal HotSpot has a price tag of $160 and the Cradlepoint is available through business sales for $250.
The cities next on the Sprint 4G expansion list are: Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Honolulu, Philadelphia, and Seattle. Sprint will continue to expand to other cities once their current list of cities are taken care of.
