Guess what folks, the Tom Tom iPhone application is officially in the iTunes App Store. If you’re looking for turn-by-turn directions on your iPhone then it’s available. The store has region specific TomTom apps starting with New Zealand for $95, Australia ($80), US and Canada ($100) and Western Europe for $140.
Keep in mind these apps do not include the TomTom iPhone care kit, which was rumored to come bundled with the app for around $194. The kit mounts your iPhone to the dashboard or windshield for easier access. It’s been quite a wait for the TomTom app to be released but don’t buy the app until some reviews start pouring in. (More details and video about the TomTom app on the iPhone and on the upcoming iPod Touch after the break).
While using the Tom Tom application, if a phone call comes in, the app shut downs but resumes after the call is ended. TomTom also says they’ll have an app ready for the iPod Touch that’ll make it faster and more accurate.
Here’s a Video of the app in use and the mounting car kit.
