Transmission Audio Ultimate speakers — $1M for the best monophonic sound ever -
We didn’t think anything would top Goldmund’s $190,000 Telos 5000 amplifier, but we should have known better. Bloated excess knows no bounds, so coming in at a cool $1,000,000 per side, we’ve got Transmission Audio’s Ultimate speakers. Each channel consists of six, 7-foot high panels (one supertweeter ribbon, two tweeter/midrange ribbons, one 24×8-inch woofer, and two 10×15-inch subwoofer); taken together, a stereo pair of the Ultimates will eat up a modest 37-foot swath of your living room airplane hangar. Even people with more money than sense like convenience, though, so the Ultimate takes a page from the HTIB crowd and bundles in six 500-Watt dual-mono amplifiers and a preamp…Engadget

Digg has just announced that it’s going to begin rolling out Digg Ads, the site’s innovative and experimental advertising product that invites users to vote on which ads they like best, over the next week. Digg first announced the new advertising product in June, and they were briefly spotted in the wild in July, though Digg claimed at the time that the ads were limited to an internal test. Digg plans to roll the product out gradually over the next few days to a small subset of users, with plans for a larger deployment over several months…TechCrunch
The remote-controlled kitchen arrives -

How to squeeze a PC into a mini briefcase - a DIY activity -
Since the whole world is going compact, a user at TBCS demonstrates how you can shrink a PC to fit in a mini briefcase, maintaining the whole compaction thing. The guy fitted an Axiomtek SBC84810 embedded motherboard ( which has an onboard Celeron-M ULV 1GHz and 1GB of DDR333, running at 266MHz), inside a small aluminum briefcase hardly bigger than it. The mini system boots Windows XP from a 16GB Compact Flash Card…Gizmowatch

The dudes from Entourage were wrong about Facebook. A few days ago we wrote a post about the two characters from Entourage bashing Facebook, saying it’s for kids. A new study from Ofcom, a media regulator, says kids aged 15 to 24 think social networking sites are lame. What’s causing this trend? Well it’s the older crowd, the 25-years and older, that’s pushing the younger kids away from social networking sites. More »

The Shack, short on money for new signs, asks for your help:
Like the rest of America, we’ve gotten some serious LOLs out of Radio Shack’s current bid for relevance. But, as you know, rebranding comes at a price — all those new signs excising the word “Radio” from the chain’s storefronts aren’t exactly cheap, you know. That said, we were equally amused and annoyed by today’s email blast urging consumers to carry around little pieces of paper with the word “THE” printed on it…Engadget
Using Mountain Dew for fuel, a brave man’s claim for greendom:
Stumbling upon this for once I was amazed to read it, but the second thought reminded me of my crazy friend who would dilute his motorbike’s fuel tank with Coke saying, “One day I will drive my bike with Coke” – and the further he reached in his misadventure was, selling off the bike for a cheap price. But inventor Paul Patone has got a similar adventure working somewhat right for him…Gizmowatch
