Anything NES is popular with the gaming crowd, especially the entire generation that grew up with it. So it’s not surprising to see gamers appreciate the use of NES cartridges in this specific hard drive. Etsy sller 8-Bit Memory came up with this by simply popping a hole in the NES cartridge, put an external hard drive inside and then cuts another hole for a USB. And there you have it.
This specially made NES external hard rive sells at different prices depending on the memory. The standard is 250 GB which sells for $120. Etsy makes any size with any game at an extra charge. You can get yours here. More »
Designer Dmitriy Shcherbakov plans to power a concept called Greenergy, using an energy source not used before, temperature fluctuations. Greenergy is a music player that also has a heating module and a light built right in.
This is nothing new, Atmos Clocks in 1928 used to use this technology but no one has ever bothered to put a futuristic spin on it and actually put it to complete use. Shcherbakov says he is not sure how much energy his gadget will produce but if it does what it is supposed to, sign me up, I want one. This is could be a great concept if its successfully carried out. More »
Cameras, pictures and heck even frames have been digital for a while now but the digital picture frames never looked too good. That is until now. Sony’s picture frame, the DPF- D72N/BQ is so modern that it is embedded with Swarovski crystals. The 7-inch frame has 1 GB of memory and has an auto-resizing adjustment that downsizes photos so that it can store up to 2,000 photos.
Image transfer is also very easy with direct USB to PC and the frame also supports many forms of memory cards. With WVGA (800×480) resolution, the frame comes with a wide range of view modes and other functions that work with the included remote control. The frame supports JPEG and RAW (SRF, SR2, and ARW) image file formats. The Swarovski crystals add a nice touch and make this frame perfect for things like wedding pictures. If you’re already throwing down thousands for a wedding, what’s another $150, right? More »
When you get mail in your box, its not the same thing as an inbox. If you know the difference and still like to constantly check your inbox then the Computer Mailbox is for you. The Computer Mailbox is a mailbox that is designed like a computer, so you could always be connected to all things tech.
Its PC shaped body is made out of heavy duty pine wrapped around a standard mailbox and has more updated technology than some computers out there. For $230, this Computer Mailbox is definitely not worth it and trust me it doesn’t make your mail come any faster. More »
Guild War 2 has not had much publicity or any updates the past few months but it’s finally come. An official trailer has been released by ArenaNet and NCSoft. The actual game is still awhile off, possibly sometime next year or in 2011. It looks like it’s going to be a long wait.
Gossip Gamers say there are still some improvements on Guild Wars 2 that’s worth mentioning: More »
Sharp has been hiding in the shadows while Sony, Apple, and other tech giants have been taking the lead with their announcements and snazzy new products. Well, Sharp is trying to make it back into the spotlight with their new MID NetWalker PC-Z1 Netbook, which is a rather small and portable version of what looks like standard netbook.
The Netwalker features a 1024×600 pixel display, an 800 MHz Freescale chip, 4GB of flash storage, and 512 MB of RAM. Performance wise, the Sharp MID Netwalker Netbook is feeble and can’t stand up to the performance of machines from Asus and MSI. The Netwalker has a real QWERTY keyboard and is very pocket friendly. Whats amazing about this device is that it has a 10 hour battery life and 3 second start up time. This will likely put Sharp back in the game. A price around $500 is expected for this device. More »
Like taking your music with you and letting everyone hear it? You might want to consider these speaker bags. For $335, you can carry around this 30 watt speaker while playing music out in the streets. The bags don’t have enough room for anything other than an iPod or a small Mp3 player.
These look nice and all but for $335, I can get speakers that are much better with higher wattage and design. I wouldn’t want to be the guy caught carrying these around, although I get the feeling some people definitely would. More »
Oh Goody, more Apple Tablet rumors! This one comes from a Gizmodo source “that has always been 100% reliable.” The source tells Gizmodo that Apple may be working on a 13 and 15-inch tablet models, along with the long rumored 10-inch model, and run the full version of OS X 10.5. Here’s more from Gizmodo:
This source claims that the two touchscreen prototypes—made of aluminum, but on the shape of big iPhones—were in a factory in Shenzuen, China. One of them “was running Mac OS X 10.5.” When I asked, the source didn’t know if these were built for demonstration purposes, or if they were preproduction units. The company has a tight relation with Apple but “it’s not FoxConn.”
At least now, we have some idea (even though it’s a rumor) that the tablet won’t have a crippled OS. More »
Japan’s largest phone manufacturer, Sharp, better start looking in the rear view mirror because NEC, Hitachi and Casio are creeping up from behind. According to news out of Japan, NEC, Hitachi and Casio are all in talks to merge their cell phone business into one massive division.
The media reports out of Japan are saying NEC is hoping to join a pact already created between Casio and Hitachi. The new joint venture is a way to cut costs and will be looking to get started sometime in 2010, most likely around April. Hopefully this means these companies can crank out phones to other parts of the world faster. More »
We all remember the Bugatti Coffee Machine and its vibrant and highlighter like colors. Well, it seems that Bugatti has taken quite a liking to the kitchen appliance market with their newest release, the Vera Electric Kettle.
The futuristic kettle has electronic controls for you set time and temperature ranging from 113 to 212 degrees. The kettle’s handle sports a screen that allows you to see what temperature is set and what the time is. The timer is also a very handy feature which allows you to set a specific time and go do you work so that the kettle can turn off when the water is done boiling and yes, the highlighter-like colors are still there on some models. You can get this at the end of September from Bugatti for $300. More »
It’s one thing to be a Star Wars fan and really like the movies but to adorn every wall and floor in your home with Star Wars paraphernalia is amazing, yet creepy at the same time. This my friends, is the house of Cho Woong who is a die hard Star Wars collector and it seems, from the images, as if every inch of his home is covered in something Star Wars.
Check out the pictures of Woong’s apartment and his life size Jedi master Yoda and hundreds of Stormtrooper action figures. I wouldn’t want to be the person dusting this house! More »
After the launch of Sony’s new e-reader, it seems that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to create their own. ASUS president Jerry Shen is the latest to announce that they will be releasing their new Eee e-book reader by the end of this year.
This is a very bad time for ASUS to try and make their mark in the e-reader industry. With Sony and Amazon colliding head on, the ASUS Eee e-reader is sure to fall in the shadows, unless it is offered at a low price tag that Sony and Amazon just can’t beat. Rumors have it that MSI is eyeing the reader market as well but it’s obvious that they would compete against ASUS, not the bigger guys. The only way that this could possibly gain some major media spotlight is if they give the e-books at a low price and/or add features that Amazon and Sony don’t offer.

Palm Pre has finally hit countries outside of he U.S. and they didn’t really go far. Bell, a Canadian company, is going to be the exclusive provider of the Palm Pre and they’ve started with some nifty ads. It’s available now but looking at the Bell site and the Palm Pre contract, the iPhone contract doesn’t seem so bad now. Bell is making customers sign up for a 3 year contract to get the $199.95 deal. That’s 3 years! By then we could have a 5th generation iPhone. And we all thought AT&T was killing us with a 2-year contract on the iPhone.
If you’re in Canada and want the Palm Pre, it’s available to you, just expect to pony up. Check out some videos here of the Pre in Canada. More »
Looks like the App Store is a bigger success than some could have imagined. AdMob, an advertising startup estimates that $200 million in apps are downloaded every month multiply that by a year and you get a value of over $2.4 billion.
The up and coming app store that can even come close to the Apple App store is the Android market and it’s not even a competition, at least not right now. The Android market is making about $60 million per year. Looks like Apple brings in three times more money in one month than the Android market brings in for Google. Here’s the twist to the App store success, it’s not the iPhone that’s leading the charge in downloaded apps and revenue, instead it’s the iPod Touch that’s doing most of the damage. More »
FINALLY! After about a week of rumors, Microsoft is finally going to rdrop the prices on their Xbox 360 gaming consoles. Tomorrow is the official day, and honestly, I’m a little excited. I’ve had experience with both consoles. I opted for the PS3 after my first and only Xbox 360 had the “Ring of Death” but with a lower price point, it may be something I may want again.
As for the price drops, the entry-level arcade will still be $200, Elite (black edition) will drop $100 to $300 (from $400), and the Pro will go down $50 to $250 (from $300). Microsoft is looking to get rid of the mid-range Pro, so once stock is depleted, expect only the Arcade and Elite to be remaining. If you’re wondering if the upcoming project natal will be compatible with any Xbox 360, Microsoft assures every Xbox 360 will be compatible. While the prices here in the U.S. are dropping, the UK is another story. More »
