Doesn’t this next video look exactly like the Apple iPhone ads? Looks like Palm is taking a bite out of Apple’s marketing team. More »
Did you ever have to pull over to the side of the road when driving and change a tire? If you have, you’ll know that it’s mighty hard to change a tire with one hand while holding a flashlight in the other. A solution has finally arrived from Joby, the same company who made the Gorillapod flexible tripod. They have released the Gorillatorch which is essentially a mag light atop a tripod that can attach to almost anything.
The snakelike rubberized and magnetized feet allow you stick the light to the side of the making it a lot easier to handle in spots where putting a light is nearly impossible. Not only does the Gorillatorch have these super feet, it also sports a 65 Lumen LED torch, has a dimmer switch, is water resistance, infinitely adjustable angles, it is collapsible, and it runs for 20 hours on only 3 AA batteries. Computer gamers are going to rejoice when they find out that the new Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse is out.The Razer Naga’s interface allows the user to program the mouse to the game they are playing and to set the commands on the buttons they use most. It has a 12 button thumb grid and it allows the user to take advantage of the free space and modifier keys.
The Razer’s add-on software allow the user to save multiple amounts of data for each character in their games and to set specific commands for each one. By looking at it, it’s a thing of beauty for gamers. I’m not a hard core gamer but if I was, I’d own of those. No word on price or availability yet. More »

The Segway never made it into the public like the inventors had hoped. It was too expensive and no right minded citizen was really going to use it. But now, a Slovenian inventor Aleksander Polutnik, has taken the Segway concept and applied it to a unicycle like device called the eniCycle. The device is supposed to be so user friendly, that anyone can learn to ride the eniCycle within a half hour.
The eniCycle looks like someone chopped off Bumblebee’s leg and is using it to travel. I do like the idea of the eniCycle and unlike the Segway, this may actually catch on. It’s powered by an electric motor and has a self balancing system to keep you steady and on the eniCycle at all times. There’s no price or availability of the device but we’re hoping the price isn’t sky high. Check out the video of the eniCycle in action after the break. More »
Google can’t seem to stay out of the news these days. After the fiasco with Apple and Google Voice, Google is being challenged in a different area of their business, online digital books, by tech giants Yahoo!, Microsoft and Amazon. But why are Microsoft and Yahoo! so concerned, online books don’t affect them much, if at all?
If you weren’t aware, Google cut a $125 million book settlement with publishers and authors to provide scanned copies of library and textbooks to create an online archive. Part of the deal also included Google giving a percentage of the ad sales revenue to Author’s Guild and Association of American publishers. An anti-trust lawsuit took place led by former big shot lawyer Gary Reback, who prosecuted Microsoft in one of their anti-trust cases. But now, the three tech giants also want to stop Google from going forward with the online digital books archive, each with their own motive. More »
10 Things You Need to Know About the PS3 Slim -
Sony’s slimmed-down PS3 is a cute little ugly duckling, and not without its concessions. From fewer USB ports to an over-priced vertical stand, and its removed “Install Other OS” feature, here’s what you should know before picking one up.
I actually plan to buy a PS3 Slim myself. I like that the matte finish is more scratch and fingerprint resistant, even if it comes over as a little retro Chinese knock-off. In the same vein, these 10 considerations may not affect how you plan to use the Slim—but knowing is half the battle, right?…Gizmodo
Snow Leopard shipping August 28th, says Apple’s UK online store -
We’ve heard whispers that Apple might be unleashing Snow Leopard to the unwashed masses a bit earlier than September, but this listing in the company’s UK online store is the most concrete evidence we’ve seen to date. Still up as of this writing, the page clearly says Snow Leopard is shipping by next Friday, August 28th. No way to actually order it at this point and no clue whether or not this is just some glitch, but if the gang at Cupertino are really planning to launch in a week’s time, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear something official sooner rather than later…Engadget
Back-to-school: 10 Things You Should Know About Going To The Bar -
College is a time to try new things - especially that second or third year, when everyone’s turning 21. Suddenly, a whole new world has opened up - a world of intoxicated semi-public bliss, previously off limits to your nascent self: the world of bars.
Bars can be a stupidly intimidating place when you’ve just turned 21. It’s like going to some crazy country where they play music too loud, everyone talks with a slur, and everything you touch is mysteriously sticky….CrunchGear
4 Reasons Why Facebook Employees Did The Right Thing By Selling Their Stock Options -
When Russian investment group, Digital Sky Technologies, decided to purchase a $100 million of common stock from former and current Facebook employees, no one thought it would cause the frenzy that it has. The program, introduced on July 13th, gave current and former employees and others who held Facebook stock, the option to sell up to 25% or $1 million of their stock to DST. The offer to sell stock options, was given to current employees first, followed by former employees. Many employees took the offer and sold a portion of their stock. While some would argue that cashing in stock options were premature, even calling the employees mercenaries, I think these employees did the right thing and here’s 4 reasons why…Ziggytek
This past week I’ve been hearing more about these video ads that are coming to magazines, starting with Entertainment Weekly. The ads are video clips of CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Accidentally On Purpose.” The ads are supposed to bring in more revenue by spending more. The cost of the actual ads have not been released but putting videos in a magazine definitely won’t be cheap.
The advertisements are supposed to be similar to Christmas greeting cards that sing after they’re opened. They’ll be a two-inch screen with a small speaker at the bottom of the ad. CBS and Pepsi are behind this new ad campaign and hoping to make the most of out of this revolutionary advertising venture, with EW and CBS are calling it the first video advertisements to ever grace the pages of print media. Most smartphones phones with large screens offer smaller keypads and vice versa but conceptual designer Seunghan Song has designed the Blackhole phone which is going to solve that problem. The Blackhole phone has a large screen to read text messages but when you flip the phone over, the screen switches to a large touch pad with a small display.
This type of motion sensing technology is already used in many iPhone apps and won’t be very hard to incorporate into a phone by itself. The Blackhole phone is a concept that could be put to use sometime soon and may be the solution to many phones that are looking to make room for all of its features. The iPhone may be one the first to incorporate this technology in its future phones. More »
In some very surprising news, a new study shows that the average age of gamers in the United States is 35! Not only that but they’re also overweight and depressed. The survey was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University and Andrews University with 552 adults ranging in age from 19-90. The overweight and depression are common results of gaming but the average age is what’s shocking. Never could I have ever pictured gamers older than 25 years old.
Gaming has always been linked with people who are anti-social, thus locking themselves in their rooms and playing games all day without any outside interaction or physical activity. Although this isn’t the case for everyone, only 1 out of my 10 friends is overweight and a gamer, I’m not surprised by the findings. I’m still trying to figure out how the average age of gamers is in the mid 30’s.
Does this news surprise you? What did you think was the average age of gamers?
Artists and designer’s homes have everything spruced up, but it seems that over the years the only thing that hasn’t advanced much art wise is the refrigerators. That’s all about to change with the release of the new Maneghini Refrigerators. The refrigerators come in many wood and finished design such as aged cherry wood, walnut, Lebanese Cedar, Pine, and Chestnut (are they even called fridges now?).
With so many designs to choose from, the possibilities are endless. Not only are these made of fine wood, they also have brass handles, hinges, glass shelving, portholes, and claw foot legs. If i walked into some one’s home and I saw one of these things, I would assume that it was a dresser that they put clothes in. This is the true meaning of home design but it comes at a very expensive price. Each of these Maneghini designs cost around $10,000. Prepare to dish out some dough for style. More pics after the break. More »
If you have Google Voice, here’s another reason to rejoice, it’s free to call Canada using the the service. It was free back when it was GrandCentral and it’s free once again. Now you can bother the folks across the border and let them know you’re using the Google Voice service they don’t have. Or you can always taunt them about being across the border. Whatever the reason, it’s good to know you can call up folks in Canada.

Take a look at this funny comparison between the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. (Click More here to see full size pic). According to a Japanese game show, the PS3 is a Formula 1 (F1) rac car, limited in terms of features, but fast. The Wii is portrayed as a mini feeble Go Kart which is the lowest of them all but extremely fun. Of course, they portray the Xbox 360 as a fancy sports car that is packed with features but with high cost problems waiting under the problem? The show might need to change the PS 3 after the release of the Slim. Take a look for yourself, you’ll get a chuckle oout of it. More »
Blackberry has been making waves this past week. First Fortune Magazine named RIM, the makers of Blackberry, the fastest growing company in the world. Then came the news that upcoming Blackberry devices, possibly next year, will offer Flash and Silverlight support in their their mobile handsets.
It’s not surprising that RIM is named the fastest growing company in the world. Their Blackberry devices are on the list of top phones in the United States, with the Blackberry Curve as the top seller. The last three years saw Blackberry grow a staggering 77% in revenue. Competition will be tough for RIM at the top, as Nokia has recently announced they’re gunning for RIM after their partnership with Microsoft to bring Office solutions to Nokia Smartphones. And let’s not forget competition from Apple every year with iPhone updates. RIM can have a tighter hold on first place if they’re able to add Flash and Silverlight support to their Blackberry devices. More »
Modern lamp design seems to be the buzz in home designing and nothing is more worthy of entering people’s homes than designer Park Woo Sung’s colorful, modular lamps. The modular lamp allows you to put together various light pieces which end up forming the lamp shade after completion, similar to that of building blocks.
The lamp shade color is completely the user’s preference and allows them to stack in whatever color combination they want. Some of the colors offered are red, purple, green, blue, orange, and white. This is a great modern design idea that adds flair, pizazz and a comforting tone to any home. Unfortunately, no word yet on price or availability.
