And to answer my question from the previous post, there is a Playstation 3 price cut. An employee at FYE got his hands on a banner that showed the price cut. Here’s the deal:
- 80 GB System for $299.99.
-160GB System bundled with the Uncharted game will go for $399.99.
Now that you know there’s a PS 3 Slim coming out soon with a Playstation 3 price drop, the question is which one are you willing to get now?
Personally if I didn’t have a PS 3, I’d go with the new slim. You get 120 GB’s of memory, still offers Blu-ray, slimmer design, and a DUAL SHOCK 3 controller. I think I might just have made up your mind for you.
(Via CrunchGear)
Alright folks, it’s pretty much official, the Playstation 3 Slim is almost here. Kmart and Sears both have a product page for the upcoming Sony Playstation 3 Slim. The product page on Sears has some detailed info:
PS3, SLIM High-Definition Blu-ray player for the best movie experience. Free PLAYSTATION Network membership. 120GB HDD for downloading games, music, videos, and photos. Includes DUAL SHOCK 3 controller. HDMI output for 1080p resolution.
There are no pics, obviously, but a $299 price tag and a release date of 8/24/09 is shown. If you’re interested in getting more information and possibly a picture, bookmark the page and keep hitting refresh. Next Monday, we’ll be allowed to order what’s been rumored for quite some time. Bing.com, Microsoft’s latest search engine, has continued to grow for a second straight month while Google has continued to decline. According to comScore, Bing had a 8.9 percent search queries in the U.S. in the month of July, which is a 0.5 percent increase since June and a 0.9 percent increase since May.
Google and Yahoo both lost market share during the month of July. Google and Yahoo lost 0.3 percent market share, with down to 64.7 percent and Yahoo down to 19.3 percent. Microsoft and Yahoo have both recently announced Bing as the main search engine for both companies, which equals a 28.2 market share, which is not much higher than the 28 percent share in June. But will this increase for the second straight month help Bing when they take on Yahoo’s loss of share? More »
Every year when the iPhone releases, my younger brother wants to know how the whole process at Apple works. I tell him, I have no clue because that’s how Apple likes it. But now I can finally give him an answer, a guide of how Apple functions thanks to Bryan Appleyard of the Times of London.
Mr. Appleyard wrote an article, more like a profile of Steve Jobs without actually ever talking to Steve Jobs. It’s worth noting that Apple had asked the Times of London to not publish the piece a number of times. Whatever the case, it’s a very interesting piece to read. It gives us a glimpse into the mind of Steve Jobs and testimonials from Apple Employees about the culture they work in, a culture so secretive, employees pass through multiple security checkpoints before going to work. Here’s a piece from the article that stands out: More »
Guess what folks, the Tom Tom iPhone application is officially in the iTunes App Store. If you’re looking for turn-by-turn directions on your iPhone then it’s available. The store has region specific TomTom apps starting with New Zealand for $95, Australia ($80), US and Canada ($100) and Western Europe for $140.
Keep in mind these apps do not include the TomTom iPhone care kit, which was rumored to come bundled with the app for around $194. The kit mounts your iPhone to the dashboard or windshield for easier access. It’s been quite a wait for the TomTom app to be released but don’t buy the app until some reviews start pouring in. (More details and video about the TomTom app on the iPhone and on the upcoming iPod Touch after the break). More »
Twitter and Facebook have become such a valuable tool for many. The need for news on the go and the ability to share that news with friends and others, have made Twitter and Facebook the go to social networking sites. After Marines, posted in Afghanistan started to use Facebook to give insight into their war experiences, it took on a whole new meaning. People were able to experience a small piece of the war, where as before soldiers had limited communications with friends and loved ones. Law enforcement officers here in the states want to be able to do something similar; make it easier to understand the people, interact with them and get help in catching criminals.
The Police Department of Pineville, Louisiana have opened up Facebook and Twitter accounts to want to connect with their residents. The department is hoping to use the social networking sites to let people know about the latest accidents, closures, even information about a suspect. While I think this is a great way to interact with the public, cops shouldn’t think this is a way to solve all the problems in a community. More »
In a somewhat surprising news, a new survey says the iPhone 3GS was the top selling phone in July after its release in June. The survey, conducted by Japanese Research Company GfK’s Japanese Subsidiary, had the 32GB iPhone 3GS as the most popular phone in Japan, while the 16GB ranked 9th in contract phones.
This is very surprising news considering Japan is always thought of as a leader in advanced mobile communications, design and infrastructure and the iPhone seemed to lack many features Japanese phones already had. iPhone 3GS has brought to Japan what the original iPhone and 3G lacked, a better camera with video recording capability and faster 3G service, which may be the reason for the popularity. Will the iPhone 3GS stay on top as the most popular phone, that’ll be something to keep an eye on in the upcoming months. The two iPhones weren’t the only phones to do well during the month of July, here’s the other 8 cell phones from the list of top 10 most popular phones in Japan. More »
You’ve probably seen those creepy Palm Pre ads with Tamara Hope that make absolutely make no sense and scare the heck out of you. The more I watch these commercials, the more I start to hate Palm Pre phone. It’s a great phone with a wonderful OS but if Palm continues to release these ads, it’ll just freak people out from buying the phones.
Palm decided to release a new, more toned down version of the phone but is still creepy. Check it out here. Take a look at all these videos after the break. More »
Last week on Wednesday, Nokia and Microsoft announced a partnership to bring Office solutions to the Symbian platform for Nokia smartphones. The deal is a long-term partnership for both companies, looking to continue expanding their mobile phone market share and ward off companies like Apple and RIM.
During the conference Nokia’s VP of devices, Robert Andersson, said something that made ears perk. Andersson was asked if Apple should be worried about the new deal. Andersson responded with, “if any company should be worried about this, it should be RIM.” He went on to say, “I don’t think BlackBerry has seen the kind of competition we can provide them now.”
OUCH!
Does this mean, Nokia can’t compete with Apple or do they have their eyes on RIM for now and then hoping to tackle Apple afterward? More »
Everyone by now knows Jay Leno loves cars. The comedian has an entire garage full of rare, expensive and antique cars. When car companies need a high profile man to test drive their latest car, they turn to Jay Leno. He test drove the Chevy Volt for GM and now is test driving the 2010 Porsche Panamera. The car looks amazing and obviously offers amazing power under the hood. The Panamera is 16 feet long, will go 0-160 mph without a problem and cost a lot of money, oney that many of don’t have. But it can’t hurt to envy Jay right? (Video after the break) More »

Just saw, what looks like the final retail packaging for Snow Leopard, the latest upgrade to the Mac OS X platform. I’m excited and I don’t even know why. To be honest, I’m perfectly happy with Leopard OS X but Snow Leopard is supposed to be faster, easier to use and have better security. I’m all for those things and can’t beat the price of this upgrade, $29. That’s a bargain compared to what Microsoft is going to be charging their users for the Microsoft 7 upgrade.
The release date for the Snow Leopard has been sketchy. Some sources claim that it’ll be released as soon as this week, while many other say it’ll be available sometime after September. If Apple has the software ready to go, thwy should start shipping. They’ll get more exposure with an early release of Snow Leopard. (hit the break for pics) More »
The Blackberry Storm 2 is coming out soon and it’s continuing to get more attention. The video, (after the break) doesn’t have WiFi listed in “Manage Connections” but WiFi will most likely be offered in the final revision. It’ll also have a upgraded firmare. Check out the video after the break. More »
Could it be? A picture of the actual Apple Tablet? According to Boy Genius Reports, the picture after the break could be the actual Apple tablet. The device is show with Mac welcome screen, which is odd considering many thought the tablet would have iPhone like software and less Mac OS X. The device also shows the home button right smack in the middle of the middle of the device. A device like that should probably have it on the side, but I don’t get paid thousands of dollars to come up with these designs. A zoomed out pic and more details after the break. More »
As soon as Microsoft announced their Zune, a slew of iPod rumors starting to come out. The latest one almost confirms the release of new iPods with cameras. Of course these “leaks” and dimensions come from non other than case manufacturers, who continuously leak Apple product dimensions. More »
