With the new 5230 being smartly priced at $210, it is easily becoming a competition. The mobile handset has an expandable memory of up to 16 GB and a built a 2.0 mega pixel camera with 3X zoom. The 5230 also includes WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth capability. The phone is expected to reach stores by the fourth quarter of 2009.
Nokia 5230: Applications
With another $160 upfront, users can customize their phone with Nokia’s “Comes With Music” that allows unlimited downloads of music with the purchase of the phone, depending on availability. This could be the alternative many music lovers are looking for instead of the pay per song Apple has with the iTunes music player.
Booklet 3G
Nokia announced their new Booklet 3G with a bang hoping to beat Apple to the micro-computer market. The Booklet 3G will be running on Microsoft Windows Software and Intel Atom’s processor. The netbook has a 10-inch screen, 12 hours of battery life, weighs less than 3 pounds, and comes with a video camera. Price for the Booklet has been announced at around $820. That’s very high for a netbook.
Booklet 3G: On-The-Go
The booklet 3G ships with WiFi and Bluetooth standard, along with connectivity to 3G cellular networks. Nokia hopes to sell multimedia downloads to consumers by creating their own music and application software called Ovi.
Nokia’s newest gadgets are going to war with Apple’s music players and phones but in order to mak a dent in Apple’s hold on music players and extremely popular iPhone, they’ll need to offer competitive prices and wil hve to consistently offer the latest technology. We’ll see which direction this mini fight turns after Apple releases their new in two days on September 9th.
