This Doraemon shaped piggyback is high tech in terms of security and allows the ultimate protection for your hard earned money. The piggy bank automatically detects what kind of coin you put into it and rings it up on the screen on top of Doraemon’s head. The most amazing thing about this is that after you put in the money, the only way you can access it is if you enter the password.

Doraemon’s face slides open to reveal the keypad as if it was out of an Indiana Jones movie or something. When the password is entered, the head easily slides off to reveal the money. These piggy banks come in two models from the famous Japanese Cartoon TV station, FujikidsTV. More »

3D is becoming bigger and bigger everyday and is showing up a lot more in movies, so why not in video games? Well, that’s exactly what the PlayStation 3 will be bringing next year. The great people over at Sony are bringing a 3D mode to the console, allowing all existing games to play in 3D.

Although Sony will be doing their part to bring 3D to you, your TV will abandon you. See, in order for your games to run in 3D, you may need to buy a TV that supports 3D. This is a great idea from Sony and we get a slight glimpse of what game systems might be like in the future. Unfortunately, TVs haven’t advanced with the game systems so we all lose in the end.

Contact lenses are quickly covering the tracks of glasses as they become a part of the past, but these contact lenses won’t be making onto eyes anytime soon. Just the thought of your eyes providing you with analytical information can flabbergast anyone.

In the lenses, there is a prototype that allows the user to see single crystal silicon components, compound semiconductor components, radio chips, minuscule antennae, and an LED. More »

Google is losing one of its international employees. Why is this important, you may ask? Well, it just so happens that this ‘employee’ is the Chief of Google in China. Kai-Fu-Lee, the head of Google’s operations overseas said he is leaving to form a new path in his career, which seems reasonable. Google released a statement saying that Mr. Lee, who was Vice President of Google Greater China and Vice President for engineering, would be leaving the company Mid-September of this year.

Mr. Lee is holding a conference in Beijing next Monday to announce the creation of a new venture capital firm, made to help Chinese entrepreneurs. His roles will be taken over by two current executives working for Google, Boon Lock Yeo and John Liu. Mr. Yeo works as a director of Google’s Shanghai engineering office and Mr. Liu who is currently vice president of sales and operations. Mr. Lee came to Google after leaving Microsoft, who sued Google, claiming that Mr. Lee had a previous agreement that said that he could not work with competitors. More »

If your bike is equipped with a Dynamo generator and you have USB powered gadgets, then you’re in luck. The Biologic Freecharge from Dahon, will be of interest to long-haul bikers who need to charge their gadgets on the road.

The silicone encased weatherproof box easily attaches to your bike’s generator hub and holds enough power to charge your iPhone in about 3 hours. This is a great idea, freeing you from the control of camp sites, and power outlets, powering your gadgets as you go. The Biologic Freecharge will arrive March 2010 and will be available for $100 from Dahon.

French company Optinvent is teaming up a Japanese manufacturer to bring a new head mounted display (HMD) called the Clear Vu. With a more affordable pricing, due to cheaper lens, the device will be available to consumers for around $200. What does it do? It lets you watch portable movies, play games and augmented reality visualizations.

But after taking a peak at the design, I don’t know many people that are willing to look like idiots by wearing one of these things around. They’ll be available in the second half of 2010 and are going to be priced at $200. More »

Summer is almost over but for those of you planning one last bash before the end, the Bongos Pro is the perfect end to an amazing summer. The Bongos Pro allows you to cook on a super shiny and slick outdoor kitchen setup. The two compartments on the side hold the propane to power the cook top and holds shelves for other cooking utensils. Each Bongo Pro ranges from $6,796 and $8,572. With that amount of money, you could probably install a full kitchen, but it will look no way near as cool as this one. More »

With Gresso’s Formula 1 inspired cell phone, the USB has arrived as well. The Gresso Grand Monaco USB drives come in tow different versions, Double Security and Classic. The light titanium super alloy gives the USB drive amazing protection, toughened even further with high-tech ceramic. Both USB drives also sport carbon inserts, echoing their formula 1 relatives in the racing world.

Unlike the Classic, the Double Security is designed with two independent data sources. The Double Security runs for $500 with two flash drives, 32 GB each. The Classic is a lot cheaper than the Double, racing in at $200 for only one 32 GB. Both of the USB Drives are of great quality and stand up to the F1 name and obviously the cause for the high price. After many angry and frustrated customers, lawsuits, and problems, AT&T has finally announced that MMS will be arriving to the iPhone 3G and 3GS through a software update on September 25th. AT&T has confirmed all iPhone 3G and 3GS customers will be able to use MMS alongside text messaging plans. Lets just hope it’s not flawed like their delayed texts and spotty calls.

Although iPhone customers were very unhappy with the late arrival of MMS, they will gladly embrace this long awaited feature and be happy until, of course AT&T delays something else. AT&T is currently working side by side with Apple to bring MMS to the customers while battling the war of smartphone data usage. We’ll just have to wait and see if AT&T can continue to handle the increasing data usage from iPhone customers. More »

The iPod is losing its grip in Japan. Last week, for the first time in four years, the iPod was not the #1 selling music player in Japan. Instead it was Sony’s Walkman digital player. Sony’s music players increased to a 43 percent share, while Apple was at 42.1 percent share. Apple held its lead in Japan since January of 2005.

One thing to keep in mind is the iPhone. The iPhone has become extremely popular in Japan and according to BCN, it has cannibalized iPod sales. It’s one of the factors not taken into consideration when BCN did their research. More »

Sprint announced the HTC Hero will be available for $179.99 after $50 in instant savings and a $100 mail-in-rebate on October 11th. With the addition of the Hero, Sprint now has three really good smart phones running on 3 different OS. Talk about giving you variety. It’ll be available on October 11th at all Sprint locations as well as Best Buy locations across the country. More »

Reinventing the bookmark: not necessary, but cool

If, like me, you tend to find yourself in the middle of several books, a six-pack of these things might not be a bad idea. You could just as easily use a piece of paper, or a string with a knot in in it, but then you wouldn’t be able to say you paid money for a bizarre rubber bookmark!…CrunchGear

Giz Explains: Why Tech Standards Are Vital For Apple (And You)

Video: Sony confirms it’s ‘bringing home 3D’ starting in 2010

As it turns out, yesterday’s report was spot-on. Sony today announced that it is bringing the experience of looking absolutely ridiculous in 3D glasses home to the living room. The initiative is “starting in 2010″ and will expand through BRAVIA LCD HDTVs, VAIO machines, PlayStation 3, and Blu-ray discs… and not in the press release, but we clearly see a CyberShot digital camera in the promotional video (look out, Fujifilm). It’s hard to say from the wording if all the listed product lines will go 3D next year, but from what we gather there’ll at least be BRAVIA sets in time for that Christmas. Curious see the zaniest video this side of the second dimension? Well, we don’t have that, but you can giggle your way through Sony’s promo after the break…Engadget

Consumers to Spend Big on TVs, Smartphones

YouTube To Delve Into Online Movie Rentals

Google may finally have a plan to make some money from YouTube. YouTube Execs are planning to offer a $3.95 charge to rent a movie, which is the same price Apple charges for movies and very close to video-on-demand prices. If Google can get movie studios on board, they’d be competing in a very crowded field. Apple, Netflix, and Amazon all offer movie rental services but YouTube is the most popular video site, so it may become a decent competitor. It’s just a question of whether or not users are willing to switch from their current rental services to go with YouTube….Ziggytek
