The guys at iFixit have gone at it again and disassembled a gadget. This time it is the yet-to-be-released Sony PSP Go. In their usual fashion, they include instructions for every step and identify each part and microchip.
During the teardown, they discovered that the internal battery is more capacious that the ones found in the older PSP and iPod touch. Though not officially user replaceable, it is easy to replace. Internal storage is provided by a single 16GB Samsung NAND chip. Remember, this thing lacks a UMD slot. Hopefully 16GB will be enough. In terms of wireless connectivity, the PSP Go has Bluetooth and rather archaic 802.11b.
Click through for the entire teardown; but if you couldn’t be bothered, we’ve embedded a video of the whole process.

Apple, Nokia and Android UI’s all have a futuristic look, adding multiple features and stylish designs, but what they lack is the human side of social interaction. The newly designed Nokia concept smartphone UI was created by CIID (Copenhagen Institution for Interactive Design) students, Kevin and Tobias, on a two week study course with Nokia. The UI itself is as interactive and fun as playing with a puppy.
Dubbed, “Little Friend”, the UI concept was essentially designed for the user to interact with “live” avatars, the way someone would interact with a real person. The user could text people in groups of avatars standing side by side or put that special someone on a cloud. More »
The Wiimote is an amazing creation and along with its creation, come the games designed for it, but adding extra accessories to your Wiimote won’t make you perform this way in real life. Take the newly released Louisville Slugger Wii bat for example, it won’t make you any better at baseball but what it will teach you is frivolous spending.
It is completely useless, so every time you swing with it, you’ll hate yourself for wasting money on it. The officially licensed Slugger bat will cost you $15, your morals, and probably someone’s head.

Environmentalists are going to rejoice when they hear that the new Green Watch created by French group Fing, is being brought out to the public. This watch allows regular citizens to turn into walking sensors, sending out environmental stats. Big cities already use certain specified spots to monitor environmental conditions but there is no help when it comes to areas with no coverage.
Dubbed, La Montre Verta (The Green Watch), it amplifies noise and ozone levels so that the troubled spots could get some help. Earlier this year, a pilot program was run using this technology followed by a larger test last week at the Picnic ‘09 conference. More »
The App Store is continuing to break milestones. Today Apple announced that the Apple App Store has hit the 2 billion mark. That’s 2 billion apps downloaded by users. Apple hit 1 billion back in April and has not hit 2 billion within 5 months. Those are some staggering numbers. Here are some of the other numbers from Apple: More »

E-readers are the thing of the future, quickly replacing books in libraries and schools. Users of e-readers have agreed that the Kindle is a good choice, making book reading a breeze. Well, it seems that the Kindle will be getting a bit of competition from the IREX DR800SG, which is supposed to be the “Kindle Killer”. The IREX is also competing against other high end models such as Sony’s new Reader Daily Edition.
Features Beat Price
While the IREX does cost more than the Kindle and the new Sony eeader, it’s features cover up the extra cash users dish out for it. To start it all off, the IREX screen is bigger than the Kindle and the Sony ereader, topping out at 8.1 inches, making it much easier to read books on. When Amazon was designing the Kindle, they didn’t think to add touch screen capabilities, giving Sony and IREX the lead with their newest touch screen interface and easy to navigate buttons. Included with the IREX is wireless capabilities delivered by Verizon, and a Gobi chipset-built in for worldwide wireless use. The IREX lacks a web browser, unlike its competitors but does have other features that mask this fact. For example, the IREX has a rotating screen (Manual, no accelerometer), a 2GB SD card, 750,00 books to choose from (Almost double the amount of the Kindle). ePub “DRM Solutions” format, bookmarks, search, and the ability to download content to device abroad (Available Soon). When looking to throw the ultimate party, it doesn’t get any better than the 2010 Brabus Mercedes Benz Viano Lounge. This van carries various gadgets, almost anything you can possibly think of. The van holds a 32-inch “electrically deployed” LCD screen, Wi-Fi, an onboard network that allows you to connect your computer to the screen, a PlayStation 3, Dolby surround sound, an espresso machine, and external cameras. What more could one ask for? More »

iPhone MMS update finally came through, but is anyone else having problems with theirs? I can take the picture but when I try to send it, it says Error and when I hit try again, it doesn’t go through.
Let me know if anyone else is having these problems. (screen shots after the break). More »
Today is a big day for the iPhone and AT&T. For those of you that have been waiting 3 long years to have the ability to do something that’s been a staple in most basic phones, the iPhone will finally get it today. Today is the day MMS finally comes to the iPhone.
While I’m not a big fan of MMS (never really cared about sending a picture through text), many people will find it useful and have been clamoring about it for some time. AT&T is finally planning to get it to all iPhone users sometime today (I’ve yet to see an update on my iPhone, so I’ll be waiting). More »
If you’ve been waiting for the Palm Pre to drop in price, Amazon has a deal for you. The Pre is on sale for a $100 on Amazon.com. Save yourself $50. It’s a great deal for an excellent phone.

Verizon: No Pre for us, thank you
In a rather surprising move considering Verizon’s lack of compelling handsets, the nation’s biggest wireless carrier has decided it’s going to pass on the Palm Pre, if reports are to be believed. This is a serious blow to Palm’s aspirations, and their stock took a 5% hit as if to rubber-stamp it. Although the team here is divided over Palm’s new efforts (and advertising strategy), I think we were all secretly rooting for Palm just a bit. After all, WebOS is impressive and the Pre and Pixi are solid little devices — but Verizon doesn’t think so, or at least not anymore….MobileCrunch
Entelligence: Have we demonized DRM?
There was a lot of discussion when Steve Jobs wrote his famous letter about DRM a few years ago. I think the letter and the timing were brilliant back in the day and it put the issue of DRM squarely where it belongs, with the content companies and not companies such as Apple or Microsoft. I agree with the overall assertion that companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Real will sell more songs without DRM. But there’s more to the story, and asking consumers about DRM is a loaded question. The analogy best given to me by one of my non-digerati friends is asking, “would you rather get 3 slices of pizza for $5, or all you can eat at a buffet for $5?” The vast majority will likely opt for the latter, even though that same vast majority will still only eat three slices….Engadget
Unnamed, unpriced PS3 motion controller arrives next spring
At the Tokyo Game Show Sony went to great pains to make its upcoming motion control more “real,” showing off tech demos and announcing specific games that will make use of the technology. When will consumers be able to play with the motion controller themselves? In Spring, 2010. Unfortunately, the questions still seem to outnumber the answers…ArsTechnica
I’m Tired Of Twitter and Facebook Widgets On Every Gadget, What’s Next, Toasters?
Facebook and Twitter have hit all time highs in terms of usage and popularity with Twitter recently hitting the $1 billion value. Both companies have been propelled by the advent of smartphone apps and widgets across other sites. What’s annoyed me most about many of these widgets is the devices they can now be found in, photo frames and televisions…Ziggytek

There are so many robots out in the world doing the simple tasks that we are too lazy to do. The latest robot helper is dubbed “Project Romeo”, which is being created to help the visually impaired and elderly. This project is in its early stages but the plan is to create a 1.2m ~ 1.5m two legged robot.
The project, scheduled for completion in 2011 will end with a 30 kg robot name Romeo, armed with helping ability. As you can see in the video (after the break), what looks like a cross between Megaman and a Panasonic toy, is actually a prototype, currently called Nao. More »
Here’s some Apple news for the day, (you know we need our daily dose), there seems to be a rumor going around that Apple will be refreshing the iMac. Previous rumors suggested there will be a Macbook and iMac refresh but today’s buzz seems to be about the iMac.
I’d be seriously disappointed if there’s a complete redesign of the iMac because I bought last year’s refresh a few months ago, hoping Apple wouldn’t refresh the iMac so quickly. I guess I should have waited. Hopefully the updates are just modest updates with nothing major. I’m hoping for that but doubt it’ll be true. More »
