The iPhone has been getting many competitors but no one is more worthy of a battle than the Nokia N900 which was unveiled late August. The Maemo OS flagship smart phone/MID mini tablet device, dubbed the N900, was created to have “Computer grade performance” and it’s obvious that it’s living up to this claim.
Nokia jumped onto the touchscreen smart phone wagon and lost to the iPhone but its making a comeback with a powerful phone and UI, which uses many gesture from the iPhone but still carries its own significance. One great gesture on the N900 is the “Hover and Manipulation mode” which is great when handling web pages on the iPhone sized, 3.5 inch screen. (Check out video after the break)
Although the N900 was originally released with Adobe Flash 9.4, it will be upgraded to 10.1 after today’s announcement of the new flash. The N900 will support the updated version which will improve the mobile browsing experience drastically. The iPhone will definitely be getting some competition from this pocket computer. The price may be a turn-off, topping out at $649.00, a bit pricey for the average smart phone user. Check out the video of the N900 in use.
