Verizon and Google had a press conference today to announce that they will be collaborating to bring Android phones to America’s largest CDMA carrier.
Though in the press release, all they said were vague statements like “Verizon Wireless and Google today announced a strategic partnership that will leverage the Verizon Wireless network and the best of the Android open platform to deliver leading-edge mobile applications, services and devices,” and “The two industry leaders will create, market and distribute products and services, with Verizon Wireless also contributing the breadth of its nationwide distribution channels.”
Nevertheless, Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google and Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Wireless were holding some familiar handsets with Verizon branding which the eagle-eyed guys at Engadget Mobile have identified as the HTC Hero and Motorola Sholes.
Now I guess it is just a matter of time before they officially announce the launch dates for these two phones.
