Macs are great in many ways They’re built on a solid UNIX foundation, they run amazing applications, and it can run Windows. No wonder 12% of households in the US own a Mac. Last year, NPD group reported that only 9% of the households in America own a Mac. From then until now, that number has shot up to 12% and still rising.

That is an amazing figure if you think of the sales since the last quarter which have increased drastically. Unfortunately, with the good news comes some bad, 85% of households with a Mac also own a Windows based PC. Now, this isn’t a concern for Apple unless Windows based PC sales begin to skyrocket and that doesn’t seem likely with their lack of innovation although Windows 7 could change that.

The NPD research group also said that Macs are purchased by households with a fair amount of disposable income. What this means is that households that have money left over after taxes, insurances, and regular spending usually spend it on a Mac. Currently, 36% of Mac users have a household income of $100,000 a year which is only 21% of total Apple Consumers. Mac users are steadily growing worldwide and by next year, we can expect that 12% to shoot up to 15%. After all of this, we can’t help but wonder if Steve Jobs is out there somewhere in Silicon Valley, doing his evil laugh while getting ready to go the bank.
