Amazon is cutting the price on their Kindle device again, the second time in 3 months. This time the price cut is $40, and down to $259:

“Kindle has revolutionized the way we purchase and read books, by making it mobile, easy and intuitive,” said Randall Stephenson, chairman and chief executive officer of AT&T. “We are excited to work with Amazon to help readers access books even faster and from significantly more places than ever before, including more than 100 countries and territories around the world through AT&T’s global wireless coverage.”

But that’s not all. Amazon is planning to release an international GSM version to more than a 100 countries for $279. The target audience for that version are US travelers going to international locations or those who speak primarily English in other parts of the world.

“A book that may take two weeks to get shipped internationally in physical form can now be delivered in less than 60 seconds,” Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos told USA TODAY.

While it’s nice to see that Amazon has decided to cut the price on the Kindle again, they may have to continue to cut the price in order to sell their device even more. If Amazon can somehow get the Kindle to sell for around $200, they’d be in a very good position, but looks like we’ll have to settle for the $259.
