During the weekend, Microsoft subsidiary Danger, the manufacturer of the Sidekick phone and the provider of Sidekick service experienced a serious server problem that resulted in the loss of all 800,000 Sidekick customer’s data. If wasn’t bad enough, there doesn’t seem to be a clear resolution in sight since Danger failed to keep a backup of the data. That is right, they never backed up 800,000 customers data.

T-Mobile has already instructed Sidekick users to not turn off their devices, restart them, remove their batteries or do anything that could possibly result in the loss of whatever data may be left on the devices. Now it seems that T-Mobile has halted all sales of Sidekicks. This does not bode well for T-Mobile or the Sidekick brand. I’m sure that thousands of Sidekick users are going to switch carriers over this major problem.
