The Kindle, leader of the ereader world, is now moving its software into the computer industry. Just yesterday, Amazon announced that they will release something called “Kindle for PC”, a free Windows application which will allow users to read their purchased Kindle books right on their PC. Now, it is reported that Apple is now looking into releasing this app for the Mac. Although Apple did not officially release this statement, Fast Company did report that this application is on the way.

Charlie Tritschler, director of Amazon’s Kindle program, hinted that API might be in the works for Kindle. This gives the Kindle a push all the way to the top, first starting off with the release of the Kindle 2, followed by the Kindle iPhone app, and now the newest application for computers. Amazon declined to release any statements about this application until further negotiation with Apple.
