AOL is soon going to be filled with newbies, now that their most experienced and oldest employees are on the move to other companies. AOL is losing one of their most beloved employees, David Liu. David Liu is the VP of Global Messaging, including AIM, ICQ, and AOL’s Lifestreaming products. Liu was behind the popularity growth behind Aim, and helped it grow into the social tree that it is today. Liu’s reasons for leaving relied mostly on the fact that CEO, Tim Armstrong, decided it was time to hire someone to take over all Internet and mobile connections for AOL.

While Liu was the best candidate for the job, Armstrong hired someone from outside of the company. Along with that and the fact that AOL is becoming a content company, Liu decided that it was time for him to start over new somewhere else. When Liu leaves next month, he will begin working at startup company, SimpleGeo as an angel investor. Liu is widely known for the first launch of an AOL.com portal which quickly grew to 50 million users and the relaunch of the AOL toolbar.
