It’s been deemed official, Hulu is getting a paid subscription service as early as next year but what does this mean for the number of users they carry? Hulu is looking at a major drop in the number of users and a massive drop in page views due to their newly devised plan. Lets look it over, shall we? Hulu is currently ranked number 36 among all other sites, and they get a great user percentage, 21.5 million global people a month to be exact.

These numbers have the possibility of almost being cut in half when their paid subscription service goes live, which means most of the users who are currently on Hulu are only here for the free content, ready to leave as soon as payment comes into effect. This spells out a bad future for Hulu in terms of user numbers and page views, maybe not money-wise, because ad revenue and the paid subscriptions will drag in enough money for Hulu to still be one of the top streaming giants. This mixes Hulu in with other video streaming sites such as Netflix, forcing Hulu to step up in advertising and content variety. We’ll just have to wait and see how Hulu’s future plays out, it all depends on if their smart enough to pull through.

WHAT THE HALE, WHY?! This is sad news.

why the hell not! i would loooooooove to pay for HULU and watch commercial free videos. One of the reasons I switched to Netflix is because i can’t stand ads, they ruin the whole experience. Hulu is a great product and they should def. charge for their product. Free is great, but when you have high quality streaming shows/videos etc without the need to pay $100/month for cable companies + recording devices like TIVO, paying a few extra bucks a month for Hulu is not so bad. I just hope it’s not a crazy monthly fee, then it would suck :P.

*sad face* Now what am I going to do when I’m bored in college?
