Canada is cracking down on driving laws. The newest law hits drivers hard, especially those who like to text while driving. Ontario’s new law bans the use of any handheld gadget while driving, which makes some of us wonder why drinking coffee and changing the radio station falls underneath this law. This new law includes MP3 players, GPS systems, and cell phones although we don’t think the police would mind you breaking the law a few times to position your GPS or put away your cell phone.

Someone who is caught breaking this strict and somewhat harsh law will be slapped with a C$500 fine which is a good $460USD, no laughing matter. This new law, proposed by Canadian lawmakers seems a lot more strict than the one New Jersey prepared for its drivers. So Ontario residents, you days of driving while texting or chatting on the phone has come to a stop, unless you’re willing to pay C$500.
