Nintendo is hiding a secret and we’re about to blow it wide open to everyone. A French website, Logic -Sunrise reported earlier today from a source within the inner workings of Nintendo, that an update for the Nintendo Wii is in the works and is to be announced in 2010.
Details on the refresh were released by Logic-Sunrise, translated by Google:
- The new console will have Blu-ray, either 720p or 1080p
- A date for release is planned in early 2010
- The release will be worldwide and will be on sale everywhere at the same time
- A recent price drop in the current Wii suggests a refresh as early as next year.

This is a crazy idea on Nintendo’s part. They’re finally growing up and going with better quality. Does this also mean the games will have higher quality as well? Either way, that’s pretty awesome. I would hope I could trade in my old Wii for this one, but get a decent price back for it.
^ Game prices would go up.. Maybe it’d feature upscaling of games?
My uncle says that game trading is a huge scam~ You’d probably get less than half what you paid for it in the first place..

Gah, now customers will have more of an incentive to buy the Wii than the PS3 since there might be a Blu-ray player and HD. Already, Nintendo is suffering adverse effects from their Wii price cut. Profits have been low for them this year and even with the lower price, not as many people as they’d hoped, have bought the Wii.
