Today is the official day of the PSP Go release. It wasn’t hard to tell, Sony has been airing commercials about the new portable gaming system for the past few days and there ads posted on bus stops and train stations across NYC.
I owned a PSP a few years ago and can’t see myself owning a PSP Go. The price is too expensive ($250) for an all digital portal gaming system (just think the PS3 Slim is only $300). But there are those out there that will buy it and will enjoy it. I’m just not going to be one of those people.
Are you going to buy the PSP GO? Do you think it’s too expensive for an all digital portable system or is it the right price compared to other all digital gadgets?
Kindles, the successful E-Book reader from Amazon, has grown to be so big that many big time universities are beginning to replace their old standard textbooks with this piece of fine technology. According to Macworld, school officials are happy that they are going to save 50 percent on the cost of textbooks, but does that really make sense? Let’s see, a complete set of textbooks, based on the same curriculum and a Kindle device at half price will cost close to $1,600 whereas the textbooks themselves will cost up to $2,000 but a number of problems arise when you see how hard it will be to sync the textbooks onto the device.
The Kindle’s book format doesn’t allow for easy syncing on textbooks, the browser doesn’t do anything more than give you a blinking cursor, and the note taking tool on it isn’t exactly the best. On top of all these problems, it’s not clear why colleges and universities would give up the large profit margin that they receive from textbook sales to a slim e-reader. More »
Square Enix company head, Yoichi Wada believes that both Sony and Microsoft are not as successful as the Wii since both game systems extend their features at a reasonable pace instead of going all out on one device. Wada also believes both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have similar games and could get up to the level of the Wii if they produce more interesting and interactive games, although motion control games are very hard to design.
The Wii still has a lot more room for improvement and in a few years, it should reach its perfection with wireless commands. This is what is holding back the Wii from taking control of the gaming market, and the fact that it is not yet offered in HD. When the Nintendo Wii gets HD and hits the level of the PS3 and Xbox 360, then you can truly compare the three. Until then, Yoichi Wada’s comment doesn’t really matter when comparing the three consoles.

The Amazon Kindle is one of the best selling e-readers out there and it’s about to get even more media attention with its rumored release in the UK. TheBookseller.com says that they got “authoritative sources” that Amazon is looking to take their Kindle overseas. One source says that Amazon has arranged everything needed for a release in the U.K., and an announcement may be due as early as next week.
If the Kindle is announced in the UK during the Frankfurt Book Fair, then it might get a good amount of media attention, with the spotlight being on books already. This will give Amazon a chance to get back the customers they lost to other e-book services in England and will get their overall sales up although it is no doubt that the Kindle will do well in almost any new market.
