War is about to go high tech, with the new Helmet Mounted Radar System (HMRS). These new built in radars will give the army an advantage over the enemy, easily allowing them to locate soldiers out on the field, no more missing in action reports. Canada is cracking down on driving laws. The newest law hits drivers hard, especially those who like to text while driving. Ontario’s new law bans the use of any handheld gadget while driving, which makes some of us wonder why drinking coffee and changing the radio station falls underneath this law. This new law includes MP3 players, GPS systems, and cell phones although we don’t think the police would mind you breaking the law a few times to position your GPS or put away your cell phone. More »
Digg, the number one social news website for sharing and discovering content is about to get much better according to reports from sources and a blurry image (pictured above). This new counting feature seems to be something Digg will try out in the near future, to see how users interact with the site. Google, the company that continues to innovate and make things easier (albeit asking for your information almost all the time) has now introduced a free turn-by-turn GPS navigation system in their new Android 2.0 software.

Apple is locked in for the winter, say reports from multiple sources. Apple has decided that their new lineup, including the new 21.5 and 27 inch iMac, Magic Mouse, and Redesigned Macbook is going to suffice for the month of November and December until early 2010 when the rumored iTablet is to be released. Gizmodo reported that they received a call from Apple, claiming that “the holiday lineup is set”. More »

Peace on Facebook is the latest creation from Facebook, opening up this page to all users looking to spread the word about World Peace. Looks like Apple will continue expanding their vast empire, this time opening another store in New York City, this time in Manhattan’s Upper West Side (68th and Broadway). The new store will be Apple’s 4th in Manhattan, with the Fifth Avenue shop as the main retail shop. The other two stores are located on 14th street in the Meatpacking District and the SoHo Shop on Prince Street. The new Broadway store is currently shrouded in a “red curtain”. Reddit was looking very dark and grim today as Steve Huffman and Alex Ohanian, founders of the company walked out the door. Huffman and Ohanian announced earlier today that they will be resigning due to their contract expiration. It has been exactly 3 years since Conde Nast acquired Reddit and took the employees over with it, including Huffman and Ohanian who signed a 3 year contract during acquisition. More »

Computers may not advance much in the next year or so, with the delay of USB 3.0 implementation. There has been an unconfirmed report that USB 3.0 in all Intel chipsets may be pushed back until early 2011. Without Intel’s initiative in getting USB 3.0 out there, manufacturers and gadget-makers will be lacking in the latest hardware, bringing any form of advancement to a grinding halt. More »

Facebook Connect is this cool feature that allows you to use your Facebook account to login and interact on all sites within the Mixr network. To put that in another way, all Mixr sites are connected via a common login and now you can use your Facebook account as that login. You’ll be able to comment, interact, gain EXP, invite your Facebook friends to Ziggytek, and have your activities on Ziggytek posted to your Facebook feed.
Keep in mind that this is a complex and deep integration of Facebook and the Mixr system. There might bugs every now and then so consider this Facebook integration to be in a beta stage. If you do find bugs, just fill out our contact form with as much detail as possible.

AOL is soon going to be filled with newbies, now that their most experienced and oldest employees are on the move to other companies. AOL is losing one of their most beloved employees, David Liu. David Liu is the VP of Global Messaging, including AIM, ICQ, and AOL’s Lifestreaming products. Liu was behind the popularity growth behind Aim, and helped it grow into the social tree that it is today. Liu’s reasons for leaving relied mostly on the fact that CEO, Tim Armstrong, decided it was time to hire someone to take over all Internet and mobile connections for AOL. More »
