Sometimes an idea is just ahead of its time and sometimes…it’s just crap. According to Engadget, the folks over at Paramount Pictures and Kingston Technology are hoping that upcoming venture is the former and not the latter. The two are teaming up to offer full length movies on flash drives.
The initial fruit of this partnership is a 4GB Kingston DataTraveler drive featuring “Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen” which is currently available for $29.99. Now the movie doesn’t take up the entire drive, but it’s unclear as to how much space remains for actual storage. And while this techie mash-up makes since on paper, it hasn’t taken off in previous iterations. Sony gave it a shot with the PSP and SanDisk crashed and burned with the ill-fated Sansa Clip and its microSD-based Slot Music.
And while we can’t say for sure if this venture will be like chocolate and peanut butter or liverwurst and jelly, we can only hope that with consumers more comfortable with using flash drives, the third time will be the charm. Otherwise this idea will be worse than when someone thought it would be awesome to revive Altered Beast. Tragically, another idea that sounded great on paper, but sucked in execution.
With that said, I’d like to introduce to you a site that’s awesome in thought process and execution. Wirebot, Mixr Media’s latest creation has launched for all you gaming fanatics out there. Check it out and stay tuned for the same level of quality content that you get from ZiggyTek.

Yes! This would be truly amazing.. But knowing the whole DVD DRM thing awhile back, they probably won’t allow DRM free USBs right off the bat.
