When it comes to personal transporter vehicles, Segway has ruled the roost for quite some time. And it’s not like we haven’t seen companies try to topple the king from its throne. There’s just something about a vehicle that’s been featured in a “Weird Al” Yankovic song that captures the imagination.
So here comes the next challenger whizzing along at 12 mph and oozing tons of rebel attitude (Seriously, did you see that guy with the shades in the pic? So, badass!). The Cool Rider is a battery powered personal transporter that navigates the road using a single-wheel drive. It kinda reminds you of a stripped down tricycle when you really look at it. But strange looks aside, there are some interesting features about the new kid on the block that should be noted.
The Cool Rider battery can hold a charge for up to an hour. When it’s time to recharge just remove the battery and plug it into the nearest wall fixture. No information on how long it takes to get a full charge going. To add to its self-proclaimed cool factor, the metal standing sled in the back in favor of getting pulled along on your old school skates or rollerblades.
You can purchase a this quirky set of wheels for $1500 not including shipping fees at Opulent Items. I wonder if this the Cool Rider Michelle Pfeiffer was talking about in “Grease 2″
