The Upper West Side Apple Store opened today and it was a grand opening indeed. The place was loaded with Concierge, literally running outside to greet those waiting out in the rain and giving them all high fives. I myself was one of those people and I have to say, it was a magical experience. It wasn’t all bad, Apple provided Tiki outdoor heaters so we don’t freeze, and even special Apple umbrellas for the rain.
Apple, alongside Starbucks also provided free coffee, Hot chocolate, and breakfast to the people waiting on the line. After waiting on the long winding line, which went by rather quickly, we neared the door where you couldn’t do anything else but stare at how amazing the sight was. There were Concierge everywhere and they were passing out t-shirts to everyone that walked through the door (Yes, I got one) and instantly, your ears filled with “Wooos” coming from customers along with the employees.
All of the computers and iPhones were lined up, waiting for the customers and the employees were standing near the stairwell, clapping as you came down. I have to honestly say, it does make you feel like a superstar. Check out the pics and a video that I took when I visited the store.
