Tanks are awesome. From the hulking military vehicles to the massive physical specimens that we root for in our favor sport, tanks rock. There are tank classes in MMORPGs. The word tank is just synonomous with great physical strength and almost superhuman endurance which is why it’s the perfect word to describe an ioSafe Solo Hard Drive.

Fireproof and waterproof, an ioSafe Drive can take just about anything you can throw at it. For those unfamiliar with the brand, ioSafe hardware is enclosed in DataCast fire insulation and has HydroSafe water barriers to keep you data safe from flames, waves, or waves of flames. (Even though I’d love to see it go through a “Mythbusters” gauntlet or two, you know, for the sake of science). If you have important files and you happen to live somewhere that receives more than its fair share of natural disasters or if you have kids (your personal natural disasters) this is the external hard drive you want to check out.

Along with all that manly ruggedness comes expanded memory space with the addition of a 2TB model. That’s right, for those of us that could possibly overwhelm a 1 or 1.5TB storage device can take a crack at filling the 2TB ioSafe’s roomy coffers. The new drive will cost you $399. The price goes up $100 if you opt for the five year warranty and Data Recovery Service.
