Thanksgiving Tech: Demy Recipe Reader

Whether you’re a seasoned professional at preparing Thanksgiving dinner or an eager rookie, the Demy can be a boon in the kitchen. Instead of trying to remember all the ingredients to Grandma’s famous stuffing or Auntie’s must have sweet potato pie, why not have all the recipes you’ll need in one easy to access place? The Demy is the new recipe box. A digital reader, the device stores all of your personal recipes in a convenient 7.8 x 5.4 x 3.2 inch frame. It’s a little bulky at two pounds, but being around all those potentially tech damaging kitchen utensils, that might be a necessity. The Demy has a 7-inch color touchscreen with an accelerometer so chefs can view it like an old school 3 x 5 recipe card. For those of us plagued with poor vision, the Demy allows users to adjust the font until it reaches a level their eyes can comfortably read.

Created by Key Ingredient Corporation, Demy works in conjunction with keyingredient.com. Sign up for the free membership to access the sites massive collection of recipes, including 100,000 user-generated masterpieces. After sign-up, cooks just plug the Demi into their Macs or PCs via the included USB cord and it will sync automatically, adding Key Ingredient recipes or your own personal recipes that have to be entered into the Key Ingredient system. Personal recipes can be kept private or shared with chosen members, just in case you’re interested in entering a guarded family recipe.

Demy also has three different timers so you don’t have to worrying about juggling cooking times or monopolizing precious counter space with tons of timers. There is also an easy to use conversion tool as well as a handy list of recipe substitutions. And when it’s time to clean up, simply wipe down the device with a damp cloth and the clean up crew should be good to go, thanks to the Demi being kitchen safe.
