The more rumors come out about the Apple tablet the more likely it’ll come to fruition. The latest rumors suggest two possible tablet devices. One will be the high end model, priced around $2,000 and include a 9.7-inch OLED touch-screen. The second one will be for the budget conscious folks and will be somewhere between $800 and $1,000 but will only include the standard LCD. But wait, there’s even more.

The DigiTimes is saying that Apple’s new device won’t be released till the second half of 2010, so don’t expect anything anytime soon. There’s another reason why the Apple tablet will eventually be coming -Wired is tailoring a site specifically geared for the Apple tablet to push their magazine content. That’s saying something considering Wired is a reputable source for Apple news and they cover a lot of Apple news and releases.

While it’s nice that Apple is giving us users an option on which model we can buy, the price is still too high. The high end model will cost around the same price as a heavy duty Macbook Pro, while the lower end will compete against Macbook prices. Apple has an unique market and chance to take over the netbook market and create another product ala the iPod and iPhone, that can change the industry. The problem they’ll have is if they continue to overprice the products and the rumors seem to suggest that’s what’s going to happen. I’m a big fan of Apple’s innovation and love many of their products but this is one product I’ll skip, especially if the price is as high as the rumors are claiming. Unless the tablet offers something so unique that it’s a can’t miss product, I can’t see myself plopping down a few grand to enjoy the beautiful OLED screens and multi-touch capabilities. Hopefully Apple is listening and they’ll come out with a great product that many can afford, but knowing how Apple tends to price their initial products, the chances of that are pretty slim, don’t you think so?
