Nothing can put a damper on a Thanksgiving dinner like a bowel-emptying dose of food poisoning. Well that, and your drunk aunt or uncle airing out all the family’s dirty laundry. This gadget can’t help with the latter it can definitely handle the former situation.
Georgia-based Creative Culinary Solutions has created the “first kitchen appliance that applies a patented process to prepare your foods, prevent food borne illnesses and protect your personal food supply,” at least that’s what it says on its website. It also claims to enhance the flavor of your meats, fruits, and veggies. Which makes sense, if you remove all the bad stuff, you should only be left with the tasty good stuff.
The device uses the patented Grovac Process to eliminate nasty bacteria from meats, poultry, fish, and produce. The process works by exposing the food to a “vacuum environment and a specially-formulated, all-natural solution.” Your guess is as good as mine on what the solution is made of. Using the process, the CulinaryPrep removes about 99.5% of potentially life-threatening food borne illnesses that can be a real downer. Other benefits include longer shelf life, lower sodium, and reduced fat levels.
The CulinaryPrep is pretty unassuming on the looks side of things. It comes in black or white and has a drum that can hold up to five pounds of meat. The 18.5” wide X 11.25” high X 11” appliance can also take on 2 whole chickens, 4-6 beef or pork filets or chops or several cups of fresh produce. Too bad the drum isn’t bigger. It’d be kind of awesome to see a turkey get tumbled around and vacuum treated.
Just load up the CulinaryPrep, set the digital timer, and press the button and in a few minutes you’ve got germ-free food. Just be sure to keep the treated food away the untreated food, it kind of defeats the purpose to let the clean food rub elbows with e coli and salmonella all over again.
The drum and the Grovac Ribs are removable for easy clean up in the dishwasher or sink. The rest of the gadget should require nothing more than a damp cloth in terms of clean up.
This handy device will cost you $299 and you can purchase it from the site along with a bigger drum, custom marinades and the solutions you’ll need to treat your food.
