There are so many wacky flash drives out on the market now and it seems to be getting weirder. The latest strange USB is an entire couch. Yeah, you heard right, its a sofa and not a miniature sized one, its an entire sofa that you can sit on. The USB sofas were made by creative design studio Cabracega for last year’s International Festival for the Post-Digital Creation Culture (OFFF). The USB sofa has wires protruding from the arm rests that let you plug in your devices, charge them, and save your data right into the couch. More »

VADO quietly creeped into the holiday gadget line-up, plopped in their new camera and left as quietly as they came. Yep, that’s what they did, they quietly released the 3rd generation VADO HD Pocket Recorder. The device got a slight facelift, with more curved features, a generous screen, and a nicely placed lens at the head of the camera, resembling that of a Blackberry. The 3rd gen device was also upgraded with low light video recording and manual exposure adjustment, support for an external stereo microphone along with a headphone output, new motion detection mode, 4GB of space, ability to take HD quality still photos and allows users to shoot widescreen in 720p HD, or take 7,000 still photos. Whenever I have a chat with friends who own iPhones and iPods, they alway complain about why Apple hasn’t added certain features and why AT&T is the only network on the iPhone. Well, instead of telling each person individually, I’ve decided to write a post so I can not only inform them but readers of ZiggyTek as well. In this post, we’ll explain why Apple waits to integrate pariticular features into their devices and why they are still locked in with AT&T. More »

LG threw themselves back in the game. Wondering how? Well, it seems that LG has been working it’s butt off, trying to create their latest release and it definitely is cathing the eye of techies all around. Today, LG released their X120 Netbook that gives users a shortcut to multiple applications and with a Smart On interface. The computer’s UI was designed to start up in a matter of seconds, beating out desktop PCs and even Mac. The X120 is a very light netbook, topping out at only 2.8 pounds. More »

Facebook has hit an all-time high in terms of popularity and I’ve been using it now more than ever for work. But the more I’m on the site, the more I notice things that bother me about some of the users. Many of them don’t know there are some universal signs of etiquette they need to abide by, otherwise they’re just annoying their friends and followers. Here’s a few things I’ve noticed that many of these people need to stop doing.

Life Quotes

I was almost guilty of this a few days ago but did not post anything. I see tons of friends question their life or a put general quote about something and then have their stalkers or “people who will comment on anything” write a comment about how awesome they are or how much that quote means to them. Once in a while is okay, but when you’re trying to be philosophical on every status message, it’s just annoying. More »

From Ningin: Most of the stuff Japan creates I’m in awe of, one way or another. And a lot of it, we use and enjoy. But what about the other rejects that don’t quite make American shores? I can see the conversation now. “Mr. Panasonic, I really loved that thing you call an LCD-HDTV you invented and sent to my house yesterday, as I watch movies on It with all my friends and family. But sorry, I really didn’t find a place for your umbrella shoes, my store shelves are full”. Oh and good luck– like you could say this directly to the Japanese directors face without getting sliced and diced by his Ginsu he invented just last Christmas! Without further ado, in no particular rank, here are some really lame, or strange inventions! More »

Sony has been on an ad blitz the past few weeks, playing their panel of “experts” spots featuring Peyton Manning and Justin Timberlake, on almost every TV show. They’ve advertised the crap out of their products on TV spots to Hulu ads, magazine and even on YouTube. While some of these commercials have been playing for some time, Sony’s latest ones are pretty funny. Justin and Peyton make an odd but funny duo on the ads. Check out all of them after the break and let us know which one you like the most.

Schiller’s spin on App Store issues ignores real complaints

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, has made another attempt to address numerous complaints about the precarious iPhone App Store approval process that have circulated in the media recently. Schiller’s point of view is that the approval process is valuable to developers and consumers, and that Apple is trying to “learn and improve” upon the process. That’s more or less what Schiller said in when he addressed these issues over four months ago, though we have no evidence that any significant improvements have actually been implemented…Arstechnica

Stats show Motorola Droid is the new elephant in the Android room

Remember back in the day when the West was still wild, the gold rush was still in full effect, you owned whatever land you could manage to fence off, and tycoons were being made and broken on a daily basis? No? Well, some of you whippersnappers might be too young to recall it, but trust us, it happened — and it seems like that’s the kind of frontier mentality we’re getting again today in the nascent Android landscape. Just a couple weeks after launching, mobile ad clearinghouse AdMob reports that the Motorola Droid is already accounting for a whopping 24 percent of all its Android-based traffic — no small feat, considering that the then-unreleased device didn’t even move the needle in their October report (pictured in the left graph)…Engadget

A storm is brewing at Best Buy

Here it comes: Best Buy ran a national Black Friday ad inviting the world to celebrate Thanksgiving and Eid Al-Adha, the Muslim festival of sacrifice. Fair enough, right? Happy Eid! Well, take a gander at the ad up there and brace yourself.

Look closely. You’ll probably miss the good will and wishes, they’re so innocuous…CrunchGear

Apple Fires Back At Verizon For “iDon’t” Ads With Two Of Their Own

Well, well, well, looks like Apple is jumping in on the war against Verizon as well. Apple will be releasing two new ads starting tonight, that show off its ability to browse the web and talk at the same time, something that’s not allowed on almost every Verizon phone. This is a response to the “iDon’t” ads released by Verizon for the Droid, highlighting the things the iPhone is incapable of doing. With Apple firing back, Verizon is getting attacked from two sides, with AT&T doing its own thing to fight Verizon’s latest “there’s a map for that” ad…ZiggyTek

Online giant eBay has brought a retail store to NYC for the holiday season. For one more week, eBay will have a midtown store for shoppers to stop in and buy items. They’ll also be providing a great option, to browse and buy things from the store using the eBay.com front page store without a registered username.

This is a great way to target customers who normally don’t shop online to get some great deals for Thanksgiving and Black Friday but also to expose the online giant’s website, which has been shifting from an auction model to a “buy it now” model similar to Amazon.

I’ll be sure to check it out again sometime this week and see what they’re offering. For those wondering what computers eBay is using in their retail shops, they’re using iMacs to help their customers browse for great deals.

What is easier than Blu-Ray and DVD? Think, Think. That’s right, USB drives are a lot easier to transfer files and watch movies with. Well, the latest creation comes from Digiboo, a new concept for distributing video files to PMP’s and other devices without the middle-man, such as a computer. This creation is a video kiosk that connects directly to your media device. Partnered with Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment, Digiboo plans to get out these Kiosks to as many consumer accessible places as possible. More »

The Internet’s weight is something we never thought we would talk about but it’s come up, so why not mention it? A few days ago, some guys down at CNET UK decided that it would be interesting if they measured the weight of the Internet so they set out on a mission to calculate every Internet connected device in the world (laptops, phones, netbooks) and how many webpages each of them visits. In the end, after a mess of mathematical theories and equations, they came to a conclusion that the Internet weighed 498,438,559,990 kilograms. More »

WiFi on airplanes is a luxury, a luxury that can get very expensive on long flights and because United Airlines realized this, they have decided to offer up a free session of WiFi on any of their flights within the country. United Airlines teamed up with Aircell’s Gogo Inflight that proposed a deal to users that they would get one free session of WiFi on any of United’s 757-200 flights between New York Kennedy and the airline’s Los Angeles and San Francisco hubs as long as they signed up for an account with Aircell.
