At a recent company event, employees received a free Nexus One device. It has been rumored for quite awhile that Google has been planning on releasing its own phone; the Google phone. “Katie Watson, a Google representative, said on Sunday that the company has confirmed nothing about its plans for the Nexus One, described as a “dogfooding” experiment for internal testing by the company in a blog post Saturday” (CNN.com).

Very few details have been divulged about this phone, but Google, following its trend to “rethink” old ideas, claims that this phone will be packing new features not found in any current devices. There is evidence to say that the Nexus One will be running Android 2.1, but nothing has been really confirmed yet. There is a likely possibility, however, that the phone may run a new version of Android all together, thus becoming a major competitor for both Verizon’s new Droid and Apple’s iPhone.

Hopefully more information will be released as time passes. This certainly looks like a promising device, and with a multi-billion dollar company like Google backing it up, I’m sure it will be, for lack of a better word, awesome.
