I know the Android OS for smartphones is nothing new, but my amazement has been renewed. I say this as I sit, writing this post from my HTC Dream on the bus. Usually this time would go to five or six games of sudoku, but thanks to an app I’ve recently discovered, never again will a moment of my life be wasted on personal time or fun and games. More »

As I am sitting here in my room listening to my beloved 2NE1, I may be totally oblivious to the fact that a hacker is covertly accessing all my files and information. Although this is relatively unlikely, there is no doubt that people out there could have pulled it off with ease. More »

With the new trend emerging that is telling people to “go green,” companies all over the world are beginning to develop new technologies that allow their consumers to do exactly that. Big time cell phone company Motorola has just released their new “green” phone called the MOTO W233 renew. More »

From Wirebot:

Making the change from a trusted and cost effective medium to a new and much more expensive form of video storage is not something alot of people are thinking of with the state of things economically. With Blu-ray players finally coming down in price, it looks like we’re going to see some pretty interesting incentives from companies to get consumers to make that change. More »

From Ningin: The Japanese have done it again.

Soon the world the way we view it, at least entertainment-wise, will soar much higher into the stratosphere. Undiscovered territory within a new universe will be able to be reached through virtual 3D simulation via their Blu-Ray player PS3. More »

Before you spend $300-400 or more for a premium netbook featuring a current single-core Intel Atom CPU, I suggest that you wait until Q1 2010, when Intel’s upcoming Atom refreshes will start appearing in newer, faster netbooks. Just because you do not expect a netbook to be a workstation, it does not mean that you should settle for what all current Atom based netbooks are –which, to me, are nothing more than glorified smart-phones with larger screens. I was somewhat surprised with the PSP Go’s launch. It was not the device that was unexpected but rather its price and form factor. Usually, when a portable gaming machine (or a console) has been out for years, a company improves it while lowering prices. Instead, Sony went an unconventional route and radically altered the PSP’s functionality by releasing the PSP Go, which removed the ability to play hundreds of existing UMD-only games that millions of PSP owners already have in their collection. In addition to this bizarre move, Sony also made the PSP Go a “premium” PSP and decided to sell it for substantially more than the standard unit. More »

Gone are the days of embarrassing texting accidents! They’re gone especially if you’re an iPhone user with the Type n’ Walk application. Type n’ Walk enables users to see where they are going while they text. The app displays a transparent viewport of what’s directly in front of you! Combined with your peripheral vision, this app is just enough visual information to help you avoid obstacles. Or, you can use it hide the fact that you’re spying on your surroundings even if you’re sitting or just standing. More »

It’s true. Along with the rest of the female species, I, too, have the problem of an overall lack of upper body strength. As hard and fierce my regular exercise regimen is, I have never overcome the problem of me almost always needing assistance in opening jars. Black and Decker Lids Off Jar Opener is something I desperately need in life. More »

Probably not if the the 5th grader in question is named Mackenzie. Mackenzie can type an astounding 115 wpm. According to various Internet souces, the average non-professional typing speed is 50 wpm. In this Youtube video featuring Mackenzie showing off her speedy fingers, Mackenzie claims that 115 wpm isn’t enough for her. She’s aiming for 200 wpm. And here I thought I was being impressive with a speed of 89 wpm. More »

From Ningin: Awhile back I wrote about some USB gloves and how silly they sounded. After reading about some other fun filled Japanese USB gadgets, those gloves actually look quite tame. Useful even. I present to you a few very odd things you should never buy. More »

When I was in high school, we used sacks of flour for that unavoidable home ec assignment that aimed to teach you responsibility in parenting. Apparently, nothing said responsibility to high school teachers in the 90s quite like watching a sack of flour. Sounds a little sad, but it was the 90s. Japan has since taken things a step further by creating Yotaro, a baby simulator designed to teach people or aspiring parents how to care for a child and recognize it’s needs based on facial expressions, movements, and physiological traits associated with babies.
