Those folks over at Japan, always coming out with something new, smaller and most times, better. Take the Micro-Sport MP3 player. It’s the tiniest MP3 player in the world, smaller than Apple’s iPod Shuffle, almost as small as the size of a quarter. The craziest part of it all is that it has a 4GB internal memory standard! Now that’s something. Check out more details after the break and some instructions on how to use it, that is if you decide to get one. More »

With the release Mass Effect 2 around the corner, we need someone who lives and breathes Bioware to play Mass Effect 2, write about Mass Effect 2 and BE Mass Effect 2. More »

We all remember when a team of engineers came together to control an entire car with their iPhone. Well, this is sort of similiar but on a much smaller scale and works even better. Using the TouchOSC software, processing, and and arduino, Chris Rojas managed to create an Xbee tank that runs on solar power and can be controlled remotely from your iPhone. (Video after the break). From Girlybubble: Japan, you’ve done it again. The Strapya Itazura Coin Bank has got to be the cutest piggy bank I’ve ever seen. Although, given that it’s just a box with a kitty or puppy that pops out to take your money, I don’t think it’d be fair to call it a piggy bank. Perhaps, a kitty or puppy bank? Another question I’ve got in mind is…why stop at kitty banks? Why not ATM machines? More »

From Wirebot:

We are coming close to 2010, which is promising to be a “Golden” year for gaming, with new technologies (example. Microsoft Natal) and innovations making their way to release. I’ve always considered myself a bit of pessimist, so forgive me if I sit over here on the other side of my computer fake sneezing and screaming “bull$h17!” at the top of my lungs. More »

If we were to call the Internet the newest New Frontier apart from outer space, I’d say the Mixr network is rapidly expanding into it. Our recent claims include:

-beauty site, FlauntMe.com -Japanese entertainment site, Rekuru.com -gaming site, Wirebot.com -gadget site, Ziggytek.com -girly and cute site, GirlyBubble.com

Expansion is a trend we are all about maintaining! On that note, we’re looking to increase our editorial staff by offering paid and volunteer writing gigs for all of the above.

What we’re looking for: - Good writers with interesting writing styles and personalities. - People with deep understanding, knowledge and passion for the respective sites. - Consistency and enthusiasm.

Just head over to our blogger signup page if interested and we’ll contact you if everything looks good. More »

From Ningin: I’ve been sitting here for the past five minutes trying to think of some funny or sarcastic thing to write about this, but honestly, I have nothing new to add. The gross horror that is a Japanese School Girl robot more or less speaks for itself. More »

I was talking to a friend this morning over coffee and she mentioned that she’d like to have an iPhone but doesn’t like the virtual keyboard. While I don’t have a problem with virtual keyboard, I don’t think I’d be able to live without the iPod on the device. If Android offered an iPod, I would leave the iPhone. I just hate carrying two devices and so that’s my reason for sticking with the iPhone.

What’s the reason for you keeping your current mobile phone?

As we’ve all heard, Apple bought out Lala.com as a last minute decision yesterday night. Well, users of both Lala and Apple’s iTunes Store couldn’t help but wonder what Apple would do with it. Apple doesn’t purchase small companies as often as their competitors do, which makes this a pretty big deal. When Apple purchases something like this and tries to keep it under wraps, we know their planning something big. More »

Video: Verizon Droid calls iPhone ‘digitally clueless’ in latest ad

The word “droid” is short for “android.” When you think of androids you think of robots. “Robot” is a Czech word that means “drudgery.” “Drudgery” is defined as “dull, irksome, and fatiguing work.” And let me tell you: it is dull, irksome, and fatiguing to sit through this latest Verizon Droid commercial…CrunchGear

Barnes & Noble’s Nook gets a brief and early hands-on

Thanks to a very generous anonymous tipster, we’ve gotten a number of hands-on pics of Barnes & Noble’s soon to be released (for some) Nook e-reader. The impressions we’ve been given, however, weave a tale of a laggy Android interface, which sounds like what we noticed with the first introduction video. Other fun facts include in-store WiFi browsing coming in 2010, and an important clarification that cover-to-cover book browsing over BN’s network only works for an hour at a time, not unlimited…Engadget

HP Envy 13 makes those cheap netbooks envious

We liked the HP Envy 13 laptop when we it was first announced a couple of months ago, but now that we’ve gotten our hands on one, we like it even more. This 13.1-incher is chiseled out of aluminum on top and magnesium on the bottom, as if it were created by a master sculptor. It gives new meaning to the words thin and light, where its 0.8 inch thickness and 3.74-pound weight make it easy to fit into even the most cramped carry-on…Dvice

AP source: Apple in talks to buy Lala.com

Apple Inc. is in advanced talks to buy online music retailer Lala.com, a Silicon Valley startup that has threatened “the end of the MP3″ with its fast song-streaming application.

A person familiar with the matter confirmed the talks with The Associated Press but was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity…BusinessWeek

Exploding iPhones Start Popping Up Again, This Time In The Middle Of A Party

A while ago, here on ZiggyTek, we talked about exploding iPhones and how they were popping up all over the world. Well, it had seemed to stop for a while, until today when a iPhone mysteriously blew up. The iPhone was being used as a music source at a party when it suddenly exploded, filling the room with smoke…Ziggytek

AT&T is being very generous this holiday season, not to the point where they’ll pay your bill, but generous enough. Today, AT&T announced that they would would be giving half-off many Blackberry handsets, including the brand new Bold 9700, and the Bold 9000 as well as other devices like the Curve 8900, 8320, 8520 and 8310. Of course this is after the mail in rebate and requires a two year contract, but if you’re going to get a two year contract with them anyway, you might as well cash in on this offer, especially since it’s only for the holiday season. While RIM is ruling the AT&T sales, that’s not all they have to offer for the holidays. More »

A few weeks ago, it was rumored that Microsoft was releasing newer versions of their Zune HD, in different colors. Well, today’s latest gadget news brought a smile to many faces, when the new purple and magenta models were introduced. Microsoft added these new colors to appeal to different users, with the already existing colors, available in platinum, black, green, red and blue. Unfortunately, for those who purchase these special colors, a 16GB and 32GB flash memory is available only, so get ready to dish out a bit more cash. More »

From Wirebot:

If you follow my posts, you may be beginning to sense a theme. I love finding ways in which video games help people (largely because I’m sick of nay-sayers who claim that video games are inherently bad… but let’s not get into a philosophical discussion here). Yet again, video games are proving to be helpful: a group of students from Singapore Polytechnic are creating video games to help people who have suffer . More »
