It seems like a lot of universities and colleges across the world are sort of stuck in a rut with tradition. With the recent rise of new technology such as e-readers, colleges and textbook publishers should begin to look into these new options. If publishers are able to “digitize” their books, students would be saving a lot of money. Instead of purchasing heavy, expensive books each year, students could just download books onto their e-readers at a significantly lower price. The one time expense of buying an e-reader pales in comparison to the amount of money spent even for one semester of books. This is a possibility I see coming in the near future and will hopefully soon!
What do you guys think? A definite possibility?

Great idea, Tuc, but sadly, most colleges will not adopt a cheaper method of content delivery because textbook publishers make far too much money off printing. In fact, most publishers try regularly to update versions of their books even when there is little information added. Sometimes, they just change the pagination and force students to buy brand new editions. Academia is probably the last place for print publishers to make real money with the way that digital press has taken over. I am glad that I majored in English Lit and simply borrowed most of my books.
