So we all know that texting while driving is dangerous, but many overlook the fact that texting while walking may also be dangerous. A recent study by the New York Times says that:

Slightly more than 1,000 pedestrians visited emergency rooms in 2008 because they got distracted and tripped, fell or ran into something while using a cellphone to talk or text. That was twice the number from 2007, which had nearly doubled from 2006, according to a study conducted by Ohio State University, which says it is the first to estimate such accidents.

While I have never been admitted to the emergency room, I will admit that I myself have had some close calls due to texting while walking. I bet you guys have some stories, as well. Let’s just hope we all can be safe and be a little more conscientious the next time we’re texting while on the move!
