Dan Woolley, an American filmmaker, was in Haiti when the earthquake hit almost two weeks ago. He was trapped under rubble for 65 hours and claims that his survival would not have been possible without his handy-dandy iPhone. Injuring both his leg and his head, he referred to a first aid app he had on his iPhone in order to create a tourniquet for his leg. He was also able to create a makeshift bandage for his head. More impressive was the fact that the app warned him against falling asleep after heavy head trauma. Woolley proceeded to set his iPhone alarm to go off every 20 minutes so that he wouldn’t fall asleep.

Pretty impressive, huh?
