The next time your mother tells you that playing video games rots your brain, you should kindly direct her to this article. In a recent study by the University of Illinois, the University of Pittsburgh, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, good gamers tend to have bigger brains.
The study was performed on 10 men and 29 women who were labeled as “casual gamers.” Using a specialized game, researchers examined the proficiency of the individuals and correlated that proficiency with specific parts of the brain. It was found that the individuals that performed better had brain parts that were larger than those that didn’t perform as well.
While too much of anything is bad for you, “seasoned gamers” out there can be proud of not just their big numbered scores, but also their big brains (Hahaha).
